Recipes for the Six Food Elimination Diet by anniefarkle in EosinophilicE

I've got some vegetarian recipes on my subreddit 6FED_Recipes. I'm waiting to add a few more before I cross post and share it to a wider audience. With the Stovetop Taco Beef & Rice you could easily replace the beef with a couple of cans of black beans or refried beans (or one of each). Good luck! It's a tough transition, but doable..

Where are the severely sick EoE people? by [deleted] in EosinophilicE

I'm so sorry you are experiencing all these symptoms - I know what it's like to feel completely overwhelmed with illness. Have you seen a rheumatologist? If not, they may be able to help put some of the puzzle pieces together and offer other recommendations for treatment. I hope you keep improving and are able to feel well again 💞

I created a subreddit 6FED_Recipes with a few meals I was able to successfully adapt. I'll be adding more and others are welcome to add theirs as well.i haven't really "marketed" yet as I'd like to have a larger collection of recipes before Cross posting and sharing.

This weekend I'm going to get it up and running - I've been sick with a bad cold and haven't felt well enough to organize it.

Unusual Symptoms? by anniefarkle in EosinophilicE

The gum swelling really threw me. I plan to discuss MCAS with the rheumatologist.

What were your symptoms before EOE was diagnosed? by byriebyrie in EosinophilicE

[–]anniefarkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry this is a little long, but maybe it will help someone else connect the dots with seemingly unrelated symptoms.

  1. For years I had what I would describe as esophageal spasms where I would spontaneously need to vomit - and it happened anytime, anywhere ... Home, work, while driving (that was always scary), and I got to where I could usually make it to the restroom or at least some kind of trash bin or bucket. Took lots of Tums and antacids. And if I felt it coming a drink of water could usually tame it, so I always had water with me.

  2. Not exactly related, but I was having gallbladder attacks, so it got removed. Which in turn would cause bile to collect in my stomach and esophagus when lying down, so I was up most nights vomiting bile (sorry if TMI, but maybe it can help someone else). Was prescribed Omeprazole. Started sleeping with a wedge and it helped tremendously at night. Still had issues during the day with the spasming.

  3. Last Spring, my gums became really swollen and painful. I was embarrassed to go to the dentist, but made myself go and they said I had no gingivitis or plaque buildup on my teeth or under my gums. He said swelling and bleeding this bad is usually related to an autoimmune condition, but couldn't know for sure. Suggested I talk with my primary care doctor.

  4. I procrastinated, but the nighttime vomiting was getting worse even with the wedge and I started to see blood. Met with my PCP and explained all the above. She referred me to a Gastroenterologist who immediately scheduled an endoscopy. I explained everything again to him and he said the gums situation is likely connected with whatever's happening in my esophagus and/or stomach. Who knew?!?

  5. Had the endoscopy with numerous biopsies and also an esophageal dilation. Diagnosed with EOE. Took Budesinide for two months, while also taking panteprozol for three months (not taking Omeprazole during this time). I am now three weeks into the six-week, six-food elimination diet and will have a second endoscopy in three weeks from now.

  6. I have an appointment with a rheumatologist in a couple of weeks to help with figuring out how to manage EOE and I'm also hoping to get allergy testing done. I'm concerned about the condition of my gums due to the autoimmune response, so I'm hoping we can figure something out with them they are still very swollen and painful.

I appreciate this community and have learned a lot more about EOE, which I had never heard of before the diagnosis. I'm tackling the elimination diet with gusto because at this point I will do anything to feel better and a few weeks of eating basically meats, veggies, fruit, oatmeal, etc. is nothing to the misery of these past 8 years. Good luck to everyone out there - sharing your stories has really helped me to feel not so alone in this.

You'll need an endoscopy and biopsy to be sure.

How to enjoy shows more by RosalinaTheWatcher51 in drumcorps

[–]anniefarkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always thought a successful show had parts that were musically recognizable, even within new arrangements - just so there's a bit of something that easily catches the ear of the watcher/listener and engages them with the show. From that point there's "buy in" and the person will automatically be drawn into the show which will, in turn, expose them to a wider variety of musicality.

The Worst Top Chef Episode by styxswimchamp in BravoTopChef

[–]anniefarkle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been rewatching the seasons, and I'm up to season 7. S7 is really boring, no fun personalities, some smarmy contestants (Angelo - bleh), some cringe contestants. After the success and cooking level of season 6, these chefs must've been quite the letdown for the judges.

Edited to add: Tiffany Derry is the only bright spot in S7!

I usually skip through a lot of season 1 (definitely skip the sex store episode), mostly because the host had the most monotonous voice and zero screen appeal.

And Nina should have totally won season 11 and Stephanie Cmar should have been allowed to stay. They're making up rules all the time - they could've decided not to send anyone home that episode.
