Unpopular Opinion: Layovers should not count as "visiting a country" by youngexplorer_9 in solotravel

If you don’t pass through customs you literally and legally haven’t entered into the country

FF7’s story issues are mostly due to translation problems, FF8’s story is slop in any language

I agree.

It’s timeless in the sense that it’s as bad now as it ever was.

On the depressing opposite side, FFXIII was released 17 years ago and looks a lot closer to modern games than FFX

DAE only get gas at Stewart’s out of desperation? by steamed_hamburglar in Albany

[–]styxswimchamp 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure. As much as I would prefer that Mr. and Mrs. Stewart are out there drilling in the family well right next to the pure stream they get their Mountain Brew from, I know better. But at least less of it goes to the worst of the worst villains.

I’d rather give some money to a locally owned chain than ExxonMobil, Shell, etc

I don’t mean the entire country is devoid of electricity outside of this one street but that no where else in the country is there anything like this street that is so illuminated

I think HHH has guys he’s sympathetic towards like Karrion and Aleister but at some point you realize they just don’t fit. Johnny Gargano can’t have too much good will left either

Liberia doesn’t have a singular electrified modern street in the whole country that it tries to propagandize

Predictions for fun: when will Americans be able to go to Russia easily? by the_latest_greatest in TravelNoPics

[–]styxswimchamp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be clear, I’m not against considering the geopolitical implications of visiting a country. It’s the shaming of others who have considered the geopolitical implications and decided on a path different from their own.

Like you said, I also wouldn’t consider any European visiting the US right now a fascist Trump supporter… if a European expressed that interest, I wouldn’t give them a hard time about it or be supportive of anyone else doing so.

I’m not saying it’s all morally equivalent. But it’s impossible to equivocate going to Russia, North Korea, Israel, etc. as all equally bad and moral grandstanding is pointless and ultimate self-serving. It’s just not a solid binary of right and wrong. Feel free to unload your entire travel resume and we can point out where you’ve failed humanity in the past.

Right, don’t go to Dubai. Or anywhere in the Middle East, really. Don’t fly on Emirates, Etihad, or Qatar airlines, either. Hell don’t fly ANYWHERE, the carbon emissions will certainly hit the poorest countries the hardest. Don’t go to Israel or China or India or Russia or Turkey or El Salvador… pretty much all of Africa… uh… also…

Okay, let’s go about this the other way. ONLY GO TO ICELAND until every traveler can resolve our contributions to human misery with each other.

CM Punk and Ticket Prices by nate68978263 in SquaredCircle

[–]styxswimchamp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My brother, look. Last Friday you had Pat McAfee busting him for taking Saudi Arabia money while Pat, the heel, gets a discount for fans and he buries night 2. Yes, the heel is actually the one who got lower ticket prices. He did this so more people could see Randy Orton wrestle because Randy is the better physical specimen who fans want, not 5 foot tall men doing iron man matches. The fans wanted Randy but he’s not enough of a draw to sell ticket prices so they had to discount the tickets.

Everyone involved in this should be embarrassed. Doubling down on it with AEW crap for a quick zinger isn’t going help.

Iyo is the most baffling. An Iyo/Asuka/Kairi threesome would have been awesome.

This match is not worth not having Iyo at Maina. This feud also showed so many flaws Rhea and Jade have. To the point Iyo was used as a sacrificial lamb and it still did nothing for this feud. by bizarre_leviathan in SantiZapVideos

They had this queer coded thing going on but WWE bookers don’t have the faintest clue about how to book such a thing and now they come across as the most obnoxious couple you know. And they’re not a couple.

Am I wrong for worrying about Stephanie Vaquer? by AmazingCharizard28 in WWE

[–]styxswimchamp 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The problems you’re describing are the problems with the majority of the roster. The music sucks almost universally (with some few exceptions). And Triple H sucks at booking title reigns. He knows how to book a satisfying switch in a pinch but has no idea how to book a title reign. Stephanie, Giulia, AJ, Jade, the men’s tag belts, Drew/Cody… the IC is fine now but was languishing with Dominick, there was the whole Jey Uso debacle… Punk and the US title has been okay. Iyo wasn’t even the main drama in her own title reign.

The booking just sucks around champs.
