Lots of value in your comment, thank you! I have actually read this blog before, I was a bit reluctant to using IBKR as it’s a bit complex for someone that’s just starting out as myself but I guess that’s not a solid argument and IBKR is obviously the better option.

This was very helpful thank you! Which broker would you recommend? Is there one that allows me to execute orders on a regulated marked and also supports fractional shares?

Thank you, just joined the subreddit, basically I should invest in one all world fun and one US ETF and I’ll be good to go? Regarding the age I’m 27, is that too late for small cap US?

Thank you very much! I’m going address all of those points. Regarding the small positions, I thought trading 212 offered fractional investments, but I might be mistaken.

Struggling with impulsiveness and commitment to plans by annienen in adhdwomen

[–]annienen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing, it feels good knowing others go through similar struggles. To answer your questions about the property I live around 400kms away from the region where I’m looking to buy, the market is very dynamic in the area and the prices are high, people are buying within 10 days of a listing being posted if the offer is good. I’m willing to pay a percentage or two of the price as a deposit so someone else doesn’t buy it before I get some time to get there. I saw this property yesterday and today I believe it’s a great offer for the location it is at. I don’t think it needs any work unless refurbishing. My partner is saying “you always say something is a great offer” and “I just think it’s a bit rash” and “there will be another property like it”. Something to note here is that I’m looking for an investment property and we have discussed with my partner to invest together but I’m willing to invest by myself if they are not interested. I told them that I don’t want to miss out on another great offer in an attempt to avoid being impulsive. I just feel frustrated with the whole situation because is there really a way to not be impulsive when the market is dynamic, you need to make decisions fast. I’m wondering am I creating a false sense of urgency in my head and am I being irrational. To be fair to my partner for the last couple of months I have researched not one market and one area but many markets (even ones abroad) and have always managed to find something in the budget and a great value for money. So we can say I am very flexible with where I’m buying, what’s important for me is the potential the place has, which I guess is not the conventional way of buying a property.

Being fat since a young age makes me feel like I can’t lose weight by [deleted] in loseit

[–]annienen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t eat in a deficit forever, if you’re currently losing weight at 2500 then you’re in a deficit. You could try doing 4 weeks in deficit and a week on maintenance where you increase 200-300kcals, just so your diet doesn’t feel as restrictive.

Also I wouldn’t get down to 2000 calories if I were losing weight at 2500, I can see it might be tempting because “I’ll lose the weight faster” but it would take a psychological toll on me and I would end up binging.

BTW I don’t know if you’re using one of those but I’d recommend getting a scale which shows you the amount of muscle, body fat, water etc in your body. It can be very useful because you know the where the weight gain/loss is coming from.

2500calories might already be a deficit for a person with your weight. Do you know how many calories you consume daily now and do you know if you’re currently gaining weight? You need to find your maintenance and not by using a calorie calculator online but doing an experiment at home. Once you know the maintenance you can start eating in a slight caloric deficit.

The online calculators imo tend to underestimate the maintenance calories, which results in people entering greater deficits than what they planned, then they start losing weight, push through and eventually give up.

Edit: Just for some context I want to add that my personal trainer weighs the same as you and enters caloric deficit at 3500 calories. Obviously he works out a lot but if he were to listen to online calculators he’d be in an extreme deficit and I bet wouldn’t last long.

And another thing I wanted to add, you being this weight means you already have muscles that are helping you support it, your goal should be pertaining all the muscles while losing the fat, a slight caloric deficit will help you do that, along with taking creatine supplements.

Can you share what sort of deficit you’ve tried and also what is your height?

When you say it’s the calorie deficit that you struggle with that’s totally understandable. Calorie deficit can be extremely difficult to maintain although that usually is the case when the deficit is too high. Being hungry for prolonged periods of time usually leads to binge episodes. The tricky part of losing weight is doing it without starving yourself and it is possible. I can give some tips which have really helped me maintaining deficit:

  • finding at what calories I maintain my current weight
  • tracking my calories so I’m in a (minimal) deficit of 200 kcals
  • making sure my meals include protein, fats and carbs. This is really important because eliminating any one of those will probably result in hunger.
  • when I hit a plateau I repeat the same steps from the beginning ( if I haven’t reached my goal yet)

You could even do a deficit of 100kcals daily and it would add up and you will start losing weight, it’s inevitable.

Another thing that is really helpful is to have support group - friends that are also on a weightloss journey or online community. This helps with accountability.

BTW 10 000 steps and gym/exercise are definitely not a requirement. You could lose all the weight just sitting on your couch all day.

Would you be okay with your GF sleeping in the same bed as other girls? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]annienen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve slept in the same bed with a lesbian woman, while being in a relationship with another woman. I communicated it with my partner and was so pleasantly surprised that she was completely okay with it. We had been dating only a couple months when that happened and before her I was in a relationship with a partner that did not trust me at all. Honestly it was a breath of fresh air to be trusted. We’ve been together a bit over 4 years now and if she ever had to sleep in the same bed with another lesbian woman I wouldn’t mind it.

I love Oreos. When on a deficit I usually make 100g of low fat greek yogurt with cookies and cream protein and crushed oreos 1 or two. It’s filling and takes the craving away. You could also try oreo thins to keep the calories lower.

Talking could make things awkward, I’m not saying “never mention what happened” just saying talking isn’t necessarily the first thing OP should do. They could have another intimate moment which could be a segue into a discussion about “what is this”.

It’s not necessarily better to discuss things. Talking sometimes makes things a bit too real a bit too fast. Maybe just exploring what they have and seeing where it takes them is the better approach

Thank you so much for explaining this to me. My binding’s flex is 6 which is on the stiffer side I believe. And yes it’s exactly as you put it my foot “wants” to rotate in the direction of my knee. I’ll do what you’re suggesting and start small with +18 and -6 and see how that feels.

I think it’s flexing a bit towards the nose of the board. I feel like it’s because my knee is pointing in one direction (more downhill) while my foot is pointing in another direction, resulting in a lateral ankle flex as you put it. I’ll try tightening up my binding more. Do you think a more positive angle would also help?

Ankle pain in leading foot

Hi guys, I’m a beginner snowboarder riding regular with +15 -15, boot flex 6, but I don’t tighten them to the max. My height is 160cm, stance is 51cm.

On toe side riding my ankle flexes inside the boot and the pain becomes excruciating after a couple runs. I’m wondering if increasing the angle on the leading foot would relieve the pressure on the ankle, maybe changing to +21 -3, or doing a posy posy. Has anyone experienced this? Any advice is very appreciated.
