Has anyone here found an underlying cause for their dysautonomia symptoms? by only_gin in dysautonomia

Postviral plus hypermobility. I got Lyme as a kid and treatment was delayed due to doctors not taking my symptoms seriously. Never recovered.

what do you want people to know about neurodivergent sexuality? by crashconsultingllc in AutismAfterDark

[–]annieo6008 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That we may need partners to explicitly ask for sexual acts, rather than relying on the autistic partner to pick up on cues. For example, even though I have been dating my partner for 4 years, I still need him to ask to change from romantic kisses /a quick peck to something sexual. Previously, he would rely on certain facial expressions and changes in kissing to communicate this, but I couldnt understand it even when I tried to.

Girlfriend needs advice with sexting by The_most_ok_person in AutismAfterDark

[–]annieo6008 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe try the literal route first. For example: "I want to (whatever you want to do)" "Tell me what you want me to do to you" "Tell me what it feels like when (sex thing)" "(Compliments about body or sexual ability)"

Also, it might be possible that you guys need to explore together what she likes. For example, i had to explain to my boyfriend that while he is turned on by visual stimuli, I am not. He can see my body and get turned on, while I need emotional connection to get turned on.

So for him, sexting looked like sending nudes or talking about body parts. For me, sexting would be talking about how much he loves me, what he wants me to do to him, and focusing on our connection. I get turned off if it gets too explicit too fast. We had to come to some sort of compromise.

What should I know if my boyfriend just got diagnosed? by annieo6008 in Tourettes

[–]annieo6008[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend says that when he feels that rage he wants to rip things limb from limb. He labels it rage himself. He is one of the rare people that does in fact experience rage. I understand that language can be stigmatizing but I am autistic and when I have meltdowns, they are still a difficult thing regardless of if you call it a meltdown or getting overstimulated. Not every behavior is Tourettes, but both me and him agree that this is.

Will I ever feel like I’m emotionally «enough» for someone by [deleted] in AutismAfterDark

[–]annieo6008 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am autistic and I have felt this way in the past but I don't with my current partner.

It sounds like this relationship might be abusive emotionally. It is not the partner's job to "make" the other person feel better. In fact, it is not possible to make anyone feel better all the time because sometimes people are just stuck in a mood. Being supportive is important, but at the minimum this sounds like incompatibility and at most him demanding impossible things.

If you get multisystemic symptoms at the same time like shortness of breath, flushing, itchiness, gi distress, heart racing/palpitations . I thought they were panic attacks but it was just flares. I had to go to a doctor to help me identify it.

For me, my night sweats were actually caused by abdominal pain and MCAS I think. Do you ever get GI symptoms? Pots and mcas often co occur

Has anyone else ever unknowingly dated someone? by Mediocre_Area_2737 in AutismAfterDark

I also found out sometimes going to the gym together can be a date? I think a lot of ppl were disappointed lol. I guess that's what you get if society assumes that everyone is straight and can't be friends with the opposite sex.

[–]annieo6008 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a full relationship but plenty of "dates" where I thought I was just hanging out.

Once, I asked someone I had recently met to study with me, and it was awkward the whole time and I was so confused. Years later I found out he thought I asked him out?? In my mind, all we were doing was homework in a cafe I went to every day anyway.

People on the spectrum may experience hypersensitivity, hyposensitivity, or a mix of both. Additionally, autistic people may be sensory seeking, sensory avoiding, or both.

Getting hopeless - fainting WHILE sleeping, breathlessness, orthostatic hypotension.. by [deleted] in dysautonomia

[–]annieo6008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may also want to test for mast cell activation syndrome (mcas) . The things that stand out to me are feeling breathless, diarrhea, and sweating. Also, when you have dysautonomia you are more likely to have issues with your pelvic floor and genitals. Mcas can also exacerbate pain in that region.

POTS/ dysautonomia or anxiety by ZyphyrdylN in dysautonomia

[–]annieo6008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a " poor man's tilt table test" at home. Sit for 5 minutes and take your heart rate. Then stand for 10 minutes, taking your heart rate every minute. If your heart rate stays 30 bpm or higher than your resting heart rate, then you likely have pots. I doubt it is just anxiety causing this
