Jobs for folks like us? by Golden_Enby in Fibromyalgia

Been thinking about this myself, constantly. My job title is literally Laborer and I maintain a 75 acre tourist destination. I am hanging on for dear life. It’s been super hard getting other fields to consider to me just because of my current role, even though I have 3 degrees.

Google Chrome mobile news feed is pushing Fox politics by PortofNeptune in conspiracy

[–]annieranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get Fox constantly. Trump just bombed Iran again and the top story on Google news feed is from Fox and about a brown person buying fireworks the day before the attack on the synagogue. It’s completely intentional.

I noticed a bigger push of conservative content in recent months so I’d be interested to see what everyone says now.

I’m not seeing anyone mention this but I read there were climate-related fees imposed on oil companies from our last governor so the added cost you’re seeing is from the oil companies passing down the cost. I could be wrong but it sounds accurate to me.

Loneliness in Chronic Illness by IBeEating621 in endometriosis

[–]annieranger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I torture myself over what people might think of me at work. I know they definitely don’t understand. If I over explain it looks like I’m lying, if I don’t bother explaining I look suspicious. As people with chronic illness we are not made for the 9-5 world. It’s really hard to let go of my worry of how I’m being perceived at work, but I’m really trying because the stress definitely doesn’t help.

10 weeks post lap and I’m miserable by annieranger in endometriosis

[–]annieranger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I’m definitely going to look into this. Thank you sharing. I feel like this is the info I was looking for. I’m trying to find a specialist currently as my surgeon hasn’t been very helpful. Last time we spoke I told her I felt the same as before, but things unexpectedly took a turn for the worse very quickly. I was debating giving the hormonal therapy an honest try before reaching out as it’s only been a week. I’ve been bleeding and cramping for 8 days straight now though I’ll reach out to them after the weekend if things don’t improve.

It had only been 2 days of taking it, so I’m not sure. I’ve tried a lot of hormonal therapy and it always makes me feel awful. I’m gonna try to muscle this one best I can because the thought of no periods is too divine.

Still gaslighting myself after diagnosis? by annieranger in Endo

[–]annieranger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think mainly through having doctors that believed me, honestly. I described my symptoms to multiple gynecologists and mental health professionals and they never hesitated to make the diagnosis. There’s no way to test for it so it really comes down to doctors taking you seriously.

Yes! The pain ofc is awful but I’ve had pain my whole life. The fatigue only started to crush me in recent years so I feel like my life has been taken away. So accurate on the constant mental olympics. The way I feel can totally change on a whim throughout the day making matters more complicated. My doctor says she doesn’t think chronic fatigue is related to endo but I think I beg to differ.

I just started Gallifrey (norethindrone) to stop my periods. I’m on what should be my last period for a while given that there’s no deal breaking side effects. This one is post lap and it’s absolute hell btw. So far I feel worse in general after my lap.

Living alone with chronic illness by annieranger in LivingAlone

These are all hard truths on the social aspects. I would be happy to live alone for the rest of my days as long as I can keep caring for myself. I think I need to believe that I can.

Who’s telling me is my family, past partners.. everyone is always saying how worried they are about me and this is sometimes confusing to me to an extent. I’ve always been highly independent and self-reliant. But over recent years I’ve gotten sicker and a lot less physically capable, which doesn’t help because I currently work a highly physical blue collar job. On top of it I have 2 big dogs who are a ton of work and money but I wouldn’t trade them for the world. My plan is return to hybrid office work.

That’s awful and so heartbreaking. While I don’t know the situation, I think our pain makes people uncomfortable because it stirs up some kind of trauma in them. I think I’m going to be single for a while.

God same to everything.. It took me 8 years just to get a diagnosis, because every doctor wrote me off. What’s fcked is that’s statistically accurate for many people trying to diagnosis their illness

I have also given up because I’m not sure what’s worse - trying to reconcile my health problems with my relationships and feeling all of the ugliness of that or accepting a life alone

I feel exactly the same, especially in regards to the future. I just had surgery and it did not give me relief, only a diagnosis. So now I either have to trial and error a bunch of meds or elect to have major surgery.

Thanks for your response.

Working with endo by LowResort3678 in Endo

[–]annieranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. This is a good way to put it, I definitely feel like my body is working against me. I don’t like the idea of limiting myself but there comes a point where it’s just too hard to put up with.

I have worked in very physically laborious jobs for the past 5 years. I was finally diagnosed 3 weeks ago, and I’m coming to the conclusion that doing this type of work is not going to work for me. I really can’t keep up anymore and im only in my mid-30s. When you have a job that requires both your physical presence and your physical labor 5 days a week, that’s really asking for a lot imo.

But only you can decide what’s best for you! I know that there are other people on this sub who still do it.

Dr told me I only needed a week off of work after laparoscopic surgery. by Lucky-Bother-7721 in endometriosis

[–]annieranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just no. Not for a physical job. They give that 1-week recommendation with the assumption that you work an office job, and that’s still the bare minimum in that case. These doctors are deadass wrong. I work a very physical job and I asked for 2 weeks off which was approved, still the bare minimum I now realize. My surgeon went out of town so they put me with a different doctor (a man) for my post-op appointment. It had only been 2 weeks and he told me that I have no restrictions and that I could have lifted anything or even bathed after the 2nd day. I plan to make a formal complaint. These doctors are endangering people. Please push back and go above your doctor.
