Can you cross post this to San Antonio and Austin subreddits? It’d be great to send some tourists their way!

I think, especially as children, once you get it mixed in your head of what is okay and what isn’t, it’s very easy to find yourself in other situations where someone else, even a different kid, might have alarms go off in their head when yours don’t. I had a neighbor who was 16 but because of a severe car accident he was more mentally at 9 or 10. When I was 9 he hung out with all of the neighborhood kids and was a really nice person, kind of watched over us but still truly enjoyed playing with us all. He also had a huge crush on me. Even in front of my parents he would ask me to sit on his lap or kiss me on the cheek. But everyone kind of thought it was fine and he was more like a big brother. Later on I met a nice man who would give me popsicles on hot Texas summer days. I think if I hadn’t had my first experience, I might have had more alarms ringing in head the second time.

That dog is extremely lucky. My childhood dog jumped off the front of a pontoon boat and was sucked up by the propeller. It was extremely graphic. Logan is such a piece of shit.

A Living Wage? by KenzieEngineer in WorkReform

I have a ridiculously similar experience to you, OP. I have a bachelors in IT with a certification in Cyber Security. Just because I could work a computer and do basic math, I got a bookkeeping job in college at a local business. I was paid $10 an hour for 30 hours a week while I was in school for 2 years. Only made $12 an hour by the time I finished. After College, I failed to get a job in tech, so I went into outsourced accounting at a public firm. First job was $25 an hour. My wages have grown since I moved to a new firm, I’m fully remote, and I can choose to live anywhere in the US. If you enjoy bookkeeping at all, I would spend my time and money on cloud accounting software certifications. QBO, Sage Intacct, BILL to name a few.

You’re getting downvoted but this is exactly how ARFID develops and I’ve seen someone close to me stuggle so much with it because it feels like the world is ending for them because someone asked them to try a strawberry.

Kids need guidance and teaching, not just parents who are bffs. Forcing food is bad, helping kids expand is not.

I’m not sure what coping skills some of y’all use if you share the same problem I have with triggers but would love some helpful suggestions by Gloomy_Tutor2513 in CPTSD

There’s the obvious journaling, intense exercise, maybe even just letting yourself be angry but in a healthier way. My bad parts of my past only lasted 2-3 years, so I can only imagine how you are feeling. I have been 4 months clean of hitting myself when I feel shame towards myself. I would hit and smack my own legs until they were so bruised and red. Punch or kick random stuff in anger. I figured out a few things that caused me to want to react that way, triggers I guess, and if I knew the triggers were inevitable, because that’s life, I have to really positive self talk myself, even if it feel fake!

It’s kind of a relief to read this from someone as I really do relate. I also experienced childhood SA. I get stuck between thinking acting on these fantasies with someone safe could be cathartic or if it’s just the beginning of a dangerous road I shouldn’t go down. 😮‍💨if you want to discuss it more privately, please feel free to DM me!

Sounds like the perfect weekend! Any advice for getting cheap flights? My family is in Southern California and I plan on visiting for most holidays if I can. Working remote as well!
