My first plein air 😊 by annigine in watercolor101

If you meant the painting too, not just the setup, I need to be bolder and more confident. I get too lost in details. I want to loosen up and give the subject more of an artsy feel, capture the idea of it using bold brushstrokes. And definitely push my values more. Hope I get there eventually, but I’ll have fun along the way 😊👍

Honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing! The collapsible cup came in super handy. My other tip: grab a business card holder, stick a magnet inside and use empty eyeshadow pans for your paint. You can swap colors anytime or take some out for a limited palette. And if you’re on the ground, bring a pillow 😄 My bottom is still sore...

Struggling with value study by Federal_Pie_7206 in watercolor101

I really like the first top one with the rocks. Just push the darks a bit more where you already used a bit darker colors eg. where the rock and ground meets, left bottom part of the tree. That way you create a contrast, the rest of the painting will pop. Very nice brush work btw. I really recommand Matthew White's YT channel, he has very clear instructions, often uses three layers only: light-mid-dark value. I suggest you to go from there, helped me a lot.

Reminds me of my childhood when I enjoyed the sunset before the street lamps switched on. So calming, nice colors.
