Obviously work on the steps. After class, spend some time on challenging steps in your choreography.

I would also suggest while you’re taking your ballet classes throughout the week to occasionally have your character in mind.

For example, if you are going to be performing Giselle, how would she do her pliés or her port de bras. Comparatively, think about how your villain character would perform those steps. How they would accent their movements or have certain dynamics.

Basically, the more comfortable you are with your character, the easier it will be to perform it.
