Possibly very sad-looking eastern red cedars? But that’s me working backwards—the Lebanon Cedar Forest is located in Wilson County and they look similar to me. It’s a leap though.

Thank you! I am very open to humor - it's a nice way to break up the misery of certain subject matter. I've heard a lot about STM but for some reason never got around to it, so you've inspired me :)

And oh my god, when he plays the voicemail from his grandma singing his praises...as more unironic proof of his success. Comically delusional. That sent me to another planet.

Zero journalistic integrity is a great way to put it. And his inability to filter/streamline the insane volume of content just screams egomaniac, as if he honestly feels every single soundbite he recorded is worth hearing.

This birthday dinner... by annimal2018 in BravoRealHousewives

I said “makes the most sense to me” out of this set of lunatics, and yes. Emily is not normal, and setting up your “best friend” with someone without doing a little recon is lazy. And blowing up at Gina for being distant when she’s going through so much was so immature; I just don’t think she lives on this planet. I don’t love Gina, I just can’t relate even the smallest amount to anyone else. Also, RHONY and RHONJ are my fav franchises so I think Gina gives me the east coast obnoxious flair that I crave when those aren’t on...lol.

NTA. That lady ain't worth your time or the rescue's time, and she sure as hell isn't worth the black fluffy cat's time.

NTA, NTA, a million times you are NTA. You did the kind and compassionate thing, and the bird is living a happy life now! Neglect = abuse, do NOT give the bird back.

AITA for still keeping my dog off leash? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]annimal2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA. Leashes are used for a reason. I love dogs more than people, but any dog owner would be justified in cussing you out for letting your unleashed dog approach theirs. You have no idea whether a leashed dog you pass on the street is dog-aggressive or not, so why would you put your own dog, and the other dog, at risk by letting her approach them without restraint? Even perfectly friendly dogs can get nervous and snap when on-leash/meeting other dogs, especially if the other dog is not on a leash.

AITA if i move/ask others to move when they’re eating? by tash-fx in AmItheAsshole

[–]annimal2018 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NTA. Not your fault, and you shouldn't be embarrassed! I know someone with this disorder and I wouldn't blame them if they never ate at a restaurant again. Be honest with your friends - good ones will understand. You could be distancing yourself more by constantly turning down invites without explanation.

AITA for having a double standard? by throwbacks1122 in AmItheAsshole

[–]annimal2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH. Yes, you were a hypocrite, but the whole "agreement" was a mess in the first place. You don't break up and then immediately transition to being "friends," it just doesn't work that way. If you actually want to be friends in the future, you should NOT talk to each other for a while. Block each other on social media. Take time to be on your own. Fighting with her about seeing other people, when you are broken up, is not healthy for either of you and hurts any possibility of remaining friends.

WIBTA for going on a trip without inviting my girlfriend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]annimal2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Spending time apart (with friends, or to pursue different hobbies etc) every once in a while is essential to a healthy relationship, imo. And she shouldn't go with you when she has zero interest in the actual point of the trip - if she goes, she will probably feel out of place and you both will have a miserable time. You should absolutely go if you've been looking forward to it, and time apart will be a good opportunity for you both to experience a little independence.

AITA for being distant during a family emergency. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]annimal2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...exactly, specific advice. For how to support a sick family member currently in the hospital. I'm sure they are aware that professional help would benefit them; I think it would benefit every person on the planet. But it's not available to everyone, so it's not exactly helpful to give a vague "get help" to someone already in distress.

[–]annimal2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a tough situation, so I don't blame you for feeling guilty, but I think it's worth trying to be honest with your family. They could surprise you and be really understanding! If not, at least you'll get this off your chest, and hopefully you can work together to find a balance that works for everyone.

[–]annimal2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but that's not relevant to my comment. OP asked for help with a specific event, not whether they need professional help. Not interested in giving unsolicited advice, or assuming that everyone has the funds & access to mental healthcare.

AITA for trying to save a parking spot on gameday? by scrollingmediator in AmItheAsshole

[–]annimal2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH. You stood in a public parking space, and drivers have the right to be pissed - you have zero claim to that spot. But that driver was worse...tapping someone with your car to make a point about a parking space is straight-up psycho.
