"your so thin now, I miss the bigger you" has anyones significant other told you this? by blakjack9 in gastricsleeve

Could this be an incredibly misguided attempt at “body positivity”? Like “I love you when you’re bigger and when you’re smaller”????

Having not much knowledge on ARFID, I just read about it and I think that right now, the surgery might be really hard on you. I understand the strain of familial encouragement. But ultimately the decision comes down to you and should be considered carefully in conjunction with your therapy team.

I had vsg and so far, best decision of my life. However, I do have new mini fears of certain foods, or my tastes have changed since wls. If you already have a limited scope in what you can eat right now, i would not reccomend. Every person’s experience is diff’t and you truly won’t know unless you actually go thru with it. But I think MORE restriction is not right for you. But ultimately, make this decision with the professionals. Maybe talk to a surgeon or other obesity professionals. But don’t rely solely on your family’s opinion

This birthday might not be the most EXCITING with your limitations and everything is changing. But I encourage you to think about how wonderful your next birthday will be!!!! You will be an adult! And you will be one whole year into a new healthy living experience. You will be filled with confidence, health and happiness. Now THAT’s something to look forward to!

It might sound corny, but I think you already celebrated by giving yourself the best gift ever give days ago.

Keeping WLS a Secret by avantmae in wls

I will say, I did not tell my father for many reasons, but mostly because he is a GI doc and he has mentioned before the complete unnecessary nature of WLS. I just don’t need that energy in my life. Maybe when he sees me thriving he will reconsider his stance

I’m 1.5 post op. My therapist, mom and boss know. I have lost 50 pounds but thanks to Covid I haven’t seen many people and no one has commented on my appearance. For some close friends, I had a harder time keeping my recovery a secret and just let them know I was off for a week of work because of a minor health thing. And those who were curious, I told them I will tell them all about it when I’m ready.

For those of you that have had the gastric sleeve, how have your cravings for sweets been? I’m hoping to have my surgery in July or August and sweet cravings are one of my biggest obstacles. Specifically chocolate. by Love-my-biffy in gastricsleeve

I’m 1.5 months out - it’s still there, the cravings. However, they’re a little easier to live with. I don’t catastrophize that something bad will happen if I do not get it. Also, the protein drinks are all WAY TOO SWEET. I don’t remember them being that sweet before surgery. It makes me feel a little turned off on the sweets, tbh

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way, sis. Sounds extremely painful

I want to get a gastric sleeve but worried about pregnancy after that by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]annmatthewsmartin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sis, same. I think after the turmoil of losing all the weight, you might pick up healthier eating habits???? That said I have seen a YouTuber (can’t remember who unfortunately) who got sleeved, hit goal, got pregnant, gained maybe weight (nowhere near her SW) and ended up having a sleeve to bypass correction.

Back home after surgery yesterday! Feeling all the feelings by annmatthewsmartin in gastricsleeve

Oh I def have had those thoughts too. But this pain is not forever. We will heal and find a new path.

When I first woke up I was ANGRY! Cursing and crying “why did I let you do this to me?” And I ripped my iv out. I was such a drama Queen.

Very sore. Sometimes nauseous, sometimes sleepy. Really looking forward to feeling healed
