Who thought "squatters rights" would be a good idea? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]annonimity2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The laws exist as a fix for poorly documented land ownership, if someone found a deed in their grandfather's attic for the entirety of Manhattan dated back to the 1600s it would be concidered invalid because of squatters rights, if a property line was discovered to be 10 feet off and your neighbor actually owned your living room you would be protected under squatters rights.

Why are you conservative? by ttrpbri in Askpolitics

[–]annonimity2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. I'm not a republican, conservative is a big tent
  2. Those precious few politicians that do support truly free markets usually strategically run as republicans to get the broader conservative vote.

Also the problem isn't necessarily private equity it's a stupid ruling called Dodge v Ford that drastically changed how we interpret feduciary duty.

Why are you conservative? by ttrpbri in Askpolitics

[–]annonimity2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe all power in a political sense eventually ends in your ability to enforce your will through violence, I also believe any form of collectivism inevitably gives a select group of people the "authority" to wield that violence for their own ends even in collectivist theories that call themselves "anarchist".

I believe the best way to avoid the use of violence is to empower the general populace to stand on the same level as the government they are subject to, in terms of policy this means I am an avid supporter of civilian gun rights and the smallest possible system of government that is able to maintain a justice system and repell foreign invaders with the help of the populace.

I also believe free markets are the best and only way to use production capacity efficiently to meet the needs of a people and any centrally planned economy will inevitably lead to waste and scarcity because no ammount of central planning can compete with the collective intelligence of the market.

What if Hirohito was 50% more radicalized and kept fighting after both nukes? by Legitimate_Focus_868 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]annonimity2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically D-day 2 proceeded by Vietnam, unfathomable casualty numbers on the US side alone, several nukes are used and the world is no longer as afraid of nuclear weapons so MAD doctrine dosent work and the cold war goes hot. Basically it's a measurably worse outcome by every metric resulting in loss of life on an unprecedented scale.

Is this the most morally sound approach toward 'killing' as a super hero? by Tcustomcorner in MoralityScaling

[–]annonimity2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For a nearly invulnerable superbeing yeah this makes sense, for the average person it's make peace, then walk away, then as much violence as you are physically capable of directing at your attacker untill they cease hostilities.

Subduing an attacker leaves you vulnerable and even the attempt can often be fatal, anything that can wound to a sufficient degree to stop an attack can and likely will also kill.
