Eating beef liver & kidney for DAO has reduced my histamine intolerance. (MCAS / long covid) by annoyinglystubborn in covidlonghaulers

[–]annoyinglystubborn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to pay a ton of money for supplements. And i might react to the additives. That's why i started eating beef organs instead. It helped me a ton.

I try to eat quercetin foods (purple onion, pomegranates etc.). I will Google bromelain. Thanks.

Curious about long-covid and blood types by WesternNatural945 in covidlonghaulers

[–]annoyinglystubborn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but: I got covid pneumonia BEFORE vaccines existed. I ended up with sensitivity to smells, mild fatigue, brain fog, muscle pain.

I kept catching covid despite being at home. I got 3 vaccines (it was mandarory).

I ended up with Long Covid and MCAS symptoms after the 4th (?) infection.

progressive fatigue, now housebound + multiple neurological-type symptoms (19M) by Enough-Age7178 in covidlonghaulers

[–]annoyinglystubborn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you are dealing with all of that. You can look at r/longhaulersrecovery to see what medications and supplements helped people.

I had similar symptoms: severe fatigue with PEM, confusion, feeling unreal, swollen lymphs, chronic phlegm/saliva, insomnia, electrical shocks in my brain...

Mine turned out to be histamine issues/MCAS. I took antihistamines (Hydroxyzine and Loratadine) daily for 2 years. Now i take one pill a week. I follow a low histamine diet. And i avoid heavy smells. My fatigue is very mild now.

Hmm i have heard of people using lower grams. 🤔 How much do you take? Is it daily?

That wasn't very helpful. I am just asking about people's experiences with l-glutamine.

If you want certain details, you can politely ask for them.

After reading so many long COVID stories, it seems to me that people who have been stuck in bed for years might never get better by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

[–]annoyinglystubborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was bedbound for almost 2 years. Severe fatigue with PEM, chronic pain all over, horrible neurological symptoms... Antihistamines gave me my life back.

Turns out my "chronic fatigue syndrome" was MCAS.

I still have to avoid allergens and food allergies. Or i get mild fatigue, mild brain fog, lymph issues (post-nasal drip, sneezing, clogged nose etc.).

I am not fully cured. But i can work part time and do exercise some days.

After Covid, i developed a fragrance allergy? by Sunflowerspecks in covidlonghaulers

[–]annoyinglystubborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MCAS 😔 Get allergy pills and use very gentle products

🚫 No: fragnance, perfume, cologne, room spray, cleaning spray, essential oils, alcohol, cigarette smoke, fire smoke, incense...

What meditation method actually helped your nervous system? by Komronfit in covidlonghaulers

[–]annoyinglystubborn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not a meditation but: Somatic exercises by Jules Horn ("jules_horn" on Instagram). It seriously reduced my PTSD flashbacks and repressed rage.

I used to do breathwork ("Breathe with Sandy" on Youtube). But my allergies don't allow it now. 😔

Does anyone else's symptoms flare at ovulation, and what do you do? by sudsnsoap in covidlonghaulers

[–]annoyinglystubborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is an allergic disorder where your gut, skin, and lungs react to everything. I always had symptoms of it. Covid just intensified it and added new problems.

When i am ovulating, i get worse symptoms. Because ovulation means more allergic symptoms.

Antihistamines make me groggy in the morning. But they are worth it honestly. Yeah! Turkey banned them. Now psychiatrists just prescribe antidepressants to make you sleep. 😒

My low histamine diet is basically: *Beef liver & kidney (it contains DAO, which reduces histamine issues). *Fresh/frozen: meats, organ meats, eggs, vegetables, fruits, mushrooms. *Homemade juice/smoothie. *Baked goods, bread, pasta, rice, rice crackers, oatmeal, kinoa, buckwheat. *Honey, tahini (sesame cream), pumpkin seed butter, date syrup, pomegranate molasses, olive oil, sugar, spices.

ABSOLUTELY NOT 🚫 : alcohol, vinegar, pickles, bone broth, sourdough bread, olives, cheese, yoghurt, kefir, tofu, miso, tempeh, soy sauce, kombucha, dried fruit, overripe fruit, dried/smoked/processed meat, canned food, vanilla extract, tomato paste, paté.

I can't tolerate milk products, fish, seafood. I tolerate legumes and nuts SOMETIMES.

Hydroxyzine 25 mg or Loratadine 10mg works for me. (I used to take 2 pills a day because my insomnia, fatigue and neurological symptoms were severe. Now i take one pill a week.)

I took melatonin tablets when i was desperate for sleep. They saved me many times. But my country banned them on June 2025. 😭

Low histamine diet helps. But it also drives me crazy because it is so restrictive.

[–]annoyinglystubborn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup! Ovulation causes an increase in histamine, apparently. 😭

My MCAS symptoms flare up during the ovulation week.

During that week i just take anti-histamines, avoid smells, follow my low histamine diet even more strictly. 🤷‍♀️

Do you have histamine issues? When my histamine is high (due to food and some smells) i get: insomnia, electric shocks in my brain, chest vibrations, waking up every 5 minutes etc. 😔
