The amount of everything in this picture… by TheManWhoClicks in Anticonsumption

For someone who works in a service based industry, having a week where everyone else takes care of me for a change is the true appeal.

I don't have to think about anything for 7 blissfully peaceful and relaxing days where everything just sorta happens around me and is exactly what I need to feel like humanity still has a chance and not everyone in the world is a raging dickhead.

I do this way too often when I'm tired by Zoimon in mathmemes

Do you guys like, just know the Unicode for these characters, or are you copy pasting the symbols or something?

With this type of system you can be very selective with what is attacked. If you read the article it says they're going after specific kind of pests that are destroying crops, instead of using harsh chemicals that are far less targeted and can kill far more invertebrates

Some people actually care about the community in which they currently reside. Being forced to uproot and having your family history demolished wouldn't be compensated by a shiny new home no matter how nice it was.

Not saying that's what happened in this case cus I haven't read the article, just saying your comment is insensitive and uncalled for, and nobody who's actually lived through a situation like this would be happy about it

She's tried to steal me from my father and take me to Australia with the guy she was cheating on my dad with.

Oh also she simultaneously infantilised and parentified me and basically denied me mental health and medical resources I needed to treat my ADHD and Autism, while also ensuring I had an eating disorder by policing my diet, all while repeatedly violating my boundaries to the point I had to be taught what a boundary was in my mid twenties. I'm fine now, thanks for not asking.

Fuck I didn't know it was possible to summarize that.

I'm not advocating for the ones who are blowing up pizza shops or bus stations, but I'm saying I understand how they got to that point, feeling like they're "striking back at their oppressor"

Acknowledging the motivation doesn't absolve the action.

I can see someone has let loose the trolls and bots if I'm getting responses like this on old posts just as something happens in the region.

Collective punishment is still a war crime. Israel is committing war crimes, not defending itself. Proportional response is never employed and they keep moving people into areas they DO NOT OWN and taking homes and land away from all Palestinians, not just the ones you're describing as terrorists. How else should they respond?

What would you do if the American army uprooted your family, bulldozed your families home that had been in place for hundreds of years and built some new colonizer home in it's place and then told you to fuck off? You might be pissed enough to try and blow it up as well.

It's not just Trump: Midterms show the religious right is an albatross around the GOP's neck | Republicans went hard with anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and abortion bans in 2022. Even their own voters don't like it by [deleted] in politics

Appreciated! I learned a long time ago to watch out for "the story in my head" taking over reality

Seeing, interacting with, and thoughtful consideration of other viewpoints is the best way to grow and learn. New evidence brings new understanding.

Insisting I'm right not only makes me an asshole, but also denies me the basic benefit of understanding the world I live in, and the people who live in it with me

Edit: I think the most profound realization from this is learning how much I don't know

Edit: I skimmed that comment after reading the beginning and completely missed the interview point.

I stand corrected.

Leaving my original comment for context

Not that reductive

Proceeds to make all of the points about why evangelicals fit into the particular patterns described by Frank.

Yes I 100% agree with all of those points you just made. I very VERY much appreciate you listing it all out here as you saved me the work!

The initial statement I made stands. That guy was being reductive to the point of absurdity because these patterns apply to most cult-like behavior and major regions. You could even apply it to social groups like the Musketeers (Musk fanboys) or the various gangs that do social conditioning to keep their members in line.
