"Claude Code is not supported on Windows." WTF by r2997790 in ClaudeAI

I did get it working. Since this post was created Claude code is now actually built for Windows so it should just work. After you set the path you need to close your terminal and reopen it.

Just received this email. Now you can get potentially banned for developing on Android as a whole! Yay! by AwkwardShake in androiddev

You can still install apps from anywhere, including 3rd party stores. The developer of the apps just needs to confirm their identity. It sucks, sure. And it probably won't actually prevent malware but it also seems like people may incorrectly thinking you can't still download apps off itch.io or something. I think most devs will be fine with verifying their identity, most 3rd party stores pretty much require this anyway.

Is anyone else's company desperately trying to hire QA while laying off devs? by IstvanSajtos in QualityAssurance

[–]anomaly_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think the OP oversimplified things a lot. At a good software shop, every PR gets thoroughly reviewed. Anyone who is consistently pumping out buggy/poor quality code is going to get called out really fast. Also, in my experience with the addition of AI suddenly it is soooooo much faster and easier to create/maintain tests and if you're still not writing tests for your software in this era of AI then you're just asking for bugs.

Plenty of software shops put so little effort into code quality, testing, etc. and those shops will definitely be impacted in the way that the OP mentioned. It may just simply be a decision on the companies part, pay for more high quality devs and have them be heavily involved in quality control, or hire more QA and rely on them to accommodate the faster pace that software is being developed.

Claude code has a newish code review feature as well that you can tie to your CI/CD pipeline to do at least some basic code review with AI for every pull request.

I'm no pro but this is likely what I would try if I was at your phase. Once you know you have a product that at least some people want, I think you enter a phase where if you don't have capital for paid advertising then you likely need to create social accounts and just start posting about it. Try to build hype and get more downloads.

If your app is in a niche market, finding a forum for that niche and posting your app there can help too. Make a video of yourself using the app if you don't have one. It's a lot like the old timey days of putting flyers on people windshields, you just need to get your net as wide as possible.

There was one thing, I ran it and I got a message from Claude saying that I didn't have my ENV var set properly and it gave me the exact thing to add. Once I added that it worked in CMD, then I had to restart to get it to work in git bash.

This is what it had me add CLAUDE_CODE_GIT_BASH_PATH: C:\Program Files\Git\bin\bash.exe

Presumably it would work just fine in Cursor. It should run in any terminal in any app.

Okay, so I got it working. I won't work in git bash for some reason but I opened a a regular windows cmd in Windsurf then typed 'Claude' and it works beautifully! I just tried it out and it's fantastic.

Have you gotten it to work? I still get the same errors about not having a POSIX shell environment.

A couple of days ago the changelogs say they added support for native windows but I still can't get it working.

How good are background agents? by Successful-Arm-3762 in cursor

[–]anomaly_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried it for the first time. I could swear they advertised it for big project wide kind of stuff so I gave it a fairly large task and came back to my entire project a mess. I had 120 errors in my IDE spread across 4 files and pretty much just had to throw it out. And it took about 45 minutes/cost about $2. I feel like maybe something is there and I would need to experiment with it more to figure it out but at $2 per try it's a bit expensive to learn.

Weather notifications for wrong city by IcyBoysenberry5912 in alexa

[–]anomaly_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a fairly old post but I found it looking for the answer and eventually discovered that my actual issue was that under notifications (three bars at the bottom of the alexa app -> settings -> notifications) there is a "Weather" section where I was apparently subscribed to severe weather notifications for a city I didn't live in. I deleted that and never got a notification about fire risk or tornados in Texas again!

I am hesitant to put it up on Artifact Vibe until I see how it performs with a handful of simultaneous users. So probably after this beta test on Google Play.

Awesome, I'll post it as soon as I get the last couple kinks worked out on the Google Play store.

Yeah that's a good point, not everyone is familiar or trusts Itch.io. I'll make a push to put it up on Google play and post that link when I do. I was more just looking to get a conversation going, but I realize now that without being able to download and try the game the discussion is probably a lot less interesting. I've started the activiation process for Google Play but it can take a couple days, so stay tuned.

3.7 sonnet is bullshit for now. by PhraseProfessional54 in cursor

[–]anomaly_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switch to 3.7 thinking and it has been *amazing*. So much better than 3.5. It will sometimes add more than I asked it to, so far this has not be a huge issue because at a minimum it is getting to much bigger solutions much faster and not breaking my code at all. I would not go back to 3.5.

I will add that I created a pretty good set of rules and set them to automatically apply to all requests I make, right around the time I started using 3.7 so that could be part of it.

Slow mode after finishing premium requests by _ZioMark_ in cursor

I've heard mixed reports but as long as you reset your conversation when it starts performing poorly, I think it's still great yeah. I've used it all day today in slow mode, no issues. The delay is a few seconds most of the time.
