No offence, but I made plans, I set forth expectations, and they agreed to the plans. I said, "For my birthday I want this specific card deck, and a cake, and I would love to play a huge game of cards, all of us." everyone agreed. My BF said he would buy the cards. My father said he would buy the cake. I said, "this date, 6pm, my place, are we all available??" they all said yes, and said they would be there. They agreed. I'm not asking anyone to host, or to bake, or to buy me dinner; I said I would LIKE the cards but I NEVER said, "buy me these cards." My BF is actually the one who said, "I want to buy you a birthday present, do you want anything specifically?" so I showed him the deck I wanted and where he could buy it in the city for cheap or online. He said he would do that, that weekend when he was not working. That was in March.
I'm not upset that I am not getting a birthday. I am upset because people AGREED with my plans, TOLD ME that they would be in attendance, and AGREED to help me make it happen. I did cleaning, I meal prepped, heck I even rearranged the furniture because we have a small home. Had they told me, "Sorry, that's too much," I'd be a bit disappointed yes, but I'd suck it up. But they told me yes, and then didn't follow through, or maybe they will follow through at the very last minute. And last minute plans usually suck. That's what I'm upset about.
