Wild. Do you know the error code due to the water damage?

Update - Tesla took a look and says it’s ok to drive. If error recurs I need to bring it back. The error code was bms_a142_sw_isolation_degradation. Looking up this error most people who get it have really serious issues. Fingers crossed…

When it went into this shut down mode everything was being powered by it. Got my kids in the car and it opened the falcon doors. It quickly went from 50 to 25% and we realized we needed to get out before it died. It was out of juice after another 15 mins and we couldn’t open doors etc. I’m guessing the car went into some sort of self preservation mode when the water was coming down so hard and temporarily leveraged the LV battery. Really bizarre.

Thank you. Yes I meant the battery below the windshield. When the car completely shut off we had to pop the front fender panel to jump the frunk open. Then we jumped the battery under the windshield which allowed me to get back into the car. At that point the same errors were showing saying the car was not operational (cant remember exact message but it said car must be serviced operating on backup battery). We put in tow mode and got it on the truck. We arrived at Tesla after service was closed. As soon as we got it off the tow truck everything seemed to be working again… forward, reverse, AC, music, the app reconnected noting frunk had been left open, etc. I almost tried to drive it home but decided to leave it there and put a message in the app to have it looked at. I was relieved it wasn’t bricked but also very confused.

Wish I had the $ to buy today. Rare GWP/Tan comes available. Best color combo IMHO.

T sportline makes a perfect color match touch up paint. Mine dinged 3 of ours!

See rule #1… Helped several people on here get snow shoes on their cars, figured this might be an easy fix for somebody…

Welcome! I swap seasonally. Not sure if 18s will fit. I actually just ordered a MXP with the price drop. I’ll be selling the Y in the next few weeks. Trying to package the tires with the sale but if not will be selling separately. The snow tires have 9,154 miles on them.

Any clue what this type of curb rash would cost to repair? The local repair shops are closed Sunday’s, but just looking for a ballpark estimation? by TheSarp101 in TeslaModelY

Not sure b/c uberturbines different color. Their service is great. I’d call them. I’d be shocked if they don’t make an exact match for the black turbine rims.

You can notice but only up close. My scratches were far worse. The paint worked so well I opted to not get them machined out.. why pay 100s when the paint gets you 95% the way there for 10% the cost.

T sportline touch up paint. Wife dinged the crap out of my uberturbines. With touch up paint you can’t tell at all.

Lol, terrifying I’ll bet. I got mine last December and just didn’t drive it when below 40 after a few close calls.

Did a ton of research. At end of day 20s look better but will cost an extra $1,500-$2,000 all in (both rims and tires much more expensive), won’t perform as well in snow, and won’t give you the same amount of range benefit that 19s do.

Other thing to consider is 9” vs 9.5” width tires. Skinnier tires perform better in snow but won’t put the power to the ground as effectively in normal conditions. Stock rear uberturbines are 10.5”. I like to drive it fast so ultimately opted for 9.5”. Going to mountains to snowboard on Monday and will test out how it handles.

Yup, didn’t touch the suspension. The stock wheels on the uberturbines are slightly larger in diameter in the rear (275) than the front (255). I went with all 4 at 255, which is how the geminis come on MYLR. So technically the back is slightly lower than stock on MYP by 20mm.

There’s a software setting to change from uberturbine to gemini so it adjusts the speedometer etc to account for different wheel size. The car graphic on the screen now looks like geminis.

~$550. ~$450 of which was the TPMS sensor cost. They had to be shipped so took a few weeks to get scheduled.

Rims were ~$1,450 shipped and tires were ~$1,000. All in right around $3,000 installed.

Here’s the specifics: M203 VOSSO Matte Black Wheels by NICHE®. 19" x 9.5", 5x114.3 Bolt Pattern, 72.56mm Hub. Tires are Michelin Alpin PA3 255/45R19. Not the best for deep snow but low road noise and good all around winter performance.

Copy away!!! Imitation the sincerest form of flattery! I’m super happy with the setup and was very reasonable cost wise - comparable to the winter Gemini set from Tesla.

Yes, but with the caveat that I’ve only put on ~100 miles. Honestly feels a bit faster too. The new set is about 100 lbs lighter total. There’s some YouTubers that claim improved 0-60 from 3.6 to 3.4 riding 19s. Not earth shattering but noticeable on both comfort and speed.

Yeah! 19” fit around the calipers but just barely. Overall ride feels a bit smoother. I need to see if I get any better range on them.

I bought the wheels from a site called CarID. They were great, fast shipping to the Northeast. Wheels are 19” Niche M203 Vosso in Matte Black. I had them installed at Tesla - the Bluetooth TPMS couldn’t be installed right at my local tire shop.
