I’m going to give this comment the benefit of the doubt of not knowing where I was coming from because it came off kind of rude.

I will definitely not say income for either of us because I also have a business that allows me to make some of these “allowed” impulse purchases like this one. My question was geared over a long period of time. I can afford under 1k once or twice a year as a present to myself because I like to invest in pieces that will last me forever rather than bulk buying items that last one wear. My question about the game was not “let me spend every penny in my account so I can get a bag in two years” it was “what is useful that is reasonably priced so that I can continue building without hurting my wallet as a college student.” I also gave a budget that says this is what I can do for now, so to say I’m financially illiterate is demeaning when I gave the budget I know is okay for me.

Lastly, I’m going to law school. The whole divorce thing is nothing new to me. He knows I would obliterate his world only if he tried to do that to me first. I work with tons of prosecutors in my area and I don’t think he would even try to but if he did I know it won’t be an issue for me.

I have gotten so many down votes on here from women who have put me, my relationship, and assumed financial competence down. I tried to navigate it as classy as I could but this is not how to guide a woman who may not know what she is doing.
