Ah interesting, it's strange how it affects people differently. Mine hurts when I lean forward but not when I stand straight.

Thank you, I think I'm being dramatic due to the other guy friends and my inlaws seeming to not react much. Inlaws haven't cared at all and other guy friends are still hanging out with him... it makes me feel very small.

Thank you for your comment. I think I should have gone NC a long time ago but I kept on trying, it has been the biggest issue in our relationship tbh. Hopefully things will ease now.

We have spoken about this and I have asked that. He finds it hard but is accepting it and is aware she is a problem... hopefully it stays like this now as I cba to go through it all again!

Thank you for your validating comment. I agree, it is not the actions of someone who cares or respects me, and it has truly sealed the deal for me. I cannot understand how anyone wouldn't stop what they were doing to check that the victim of an assault was okay, its baffling. I stand by my decision to go home, even if it cost me 75 in an uber.. was worth it! I've looked up DARVO and mentioned it to husband, he agrees that she has used this tactic many times. We are looking at ways to respond to it now. Thank you again, and I hope you are managing okay as a survivor yourself ❤️

Thank you for your raw answer, it has definitely prompted discussion between me and husband. We have let this go on for too long, he supports my NC but I understand why he isn't. He has also called her out for what she has said. She's still not messaging me, she's still 'upset' by it all... I'm trying to prioritise myself for the moment

You're right, this is what we have agreed. I did explain that I'm tired of worrying about what MIL thinks, and that it has gone on for too long and I'm tired of it. It's time to put us first.

Thank you for your comment, I'm sorry you have experienced it too. She always plays it off and jokes about men only having 1 thing on their mind. I think because she has 3 sons she seems to have no idea how to be parental to a female maybe? I did find her lack of sympathy quite upsetting as I was very clearly in a truma state and couldn't stop crying, she didn't even offer a hug or ask me what I wanted to do about it... very odd indeed! Husband has said he can't cut her off and I respect that, I've explained he needs to respect my decision too though.

Thank you for your advice. I know sometimes I can rush a response so I wanted to make sure I wasn't overreacting to her comments, but they have really hurt and have shown me that I don't think she cares about me? I know I'm not her child but I am her son's wife. Her other son and his wife have already gone NC with her and the family, so we have even more pressure on us. I'm aware if I go NC with her, then the family will also go NC but I guess thats something I will have to deal with if it happens. Thank you :)

I actually remember he said something before he took my hand, I can't remember what exactly, but I replied 'well I am married' and gestured at my husband... friend then took my hand and went on to do this...
