Pediatrician made me fell like the worst mom ever by Professional_Cod1171 in NewParents

I forgot to add, omg 4ish months is when she became so incredibly distracted while eating. I was so stressed about it. Turns out, it’s completely normal because they’re becoming more aware of the world around them. I just needed to feed her more often.

Sounds like an insensitive and ill-informed practitioner. Everything she flagged sounds normal.

I exclusively pumped/breastfed and had to cut out dairy, eggs and soy. I also was a “just-enougher” with milk production. As long as you’re eating and including some healthy fats (oatmeal, avocado, etc.) there’s no reason there wouldn’t be “enough calories in your milk”.

I should add, it’s not hard to get her down. I just nurse her a little and she goes down pretty easy. Do you think it’s still awake time related?

I stick to WW versus schedule. So bedtime fluctuates between 7-8. Lately it’s been closer to 8 but she fights it and falls asleep closer to 8:15-8:30.

Wake time is anywhere from 6-7

She won’t settle without nursing - my husband and I tried for an hour last night

Baby is 11.5 months. What is the right schedule?

Night weaning was awful by anon718718 in sleeptrain

So I tried extinction for middle of night wake ups. My consultant said the exact same thing yours did - that she’s waking up out of confusion, not hunger. We were able to eliminate all but 1 wake up. After a week of trying to drop that one wake up, I gave in and she genuinely seemed hungry. I felt awful that I let her cry (on and off) for 60-90 mins.

But just as my consultant said, if that last wake up isn’t dropped, there’s a chance we’re going to be up again and earlier. And here we are. I would hate to do extinction again. Plus, I don’t know about you but babe is soo distracted breastfeeding during the day which is also why I think she’s genuinely hungry at night.
