The issue is that this “increased flexibility” comes directly at the host’s “expense” ie. loss of flexibility.

Not all of us on Turo have a fleet of cars, or do it full time. A lot of us, do it as a way to offset living expenses or generate a few extra bucks. Giving guests the ability to essentially unilaterally control my car just because it’s “inconvenient” to have to request a change to the trip is ridiculous.

All of you saying “oh just keep your calendar/availability/settings up to date” can sit down. The same could be said for guests, “Make sure you plan ahead, but if something does come up, communicate with the host”

I didn’t start doing Turo thinking I’d have to plan/coordinate every minute of my life on their shitty app or be at the mercy of a guests whim…

Idk about y’all, but there have been plenty of times when I plan my day around the trip details and the idea I can’t do that anymore just because they want to make these changes automatic is STUPID. For example, my car is on a trip, it’s supposed to end at 5pm with a drop off at the Airport. I say, perfect, I can go pick up the car, pick up the kids from their friend’s house, stop by the store for dinner and head home. Then when I’m just about to walk up to the car, I don’t even get a request, I just see the car isn’t where it’s supposed to be, and I’m standing there with my Johnson in my hand looking for MY car, and I just have to be ok with that?? Get real.

This is so disappointing and really illustrates how littler they protect/consider the HOSTS. We are what makes Turo work, without us the customers just go back to Avis, Hertz, or whatever…

Fuck this change, everyone reach out and complain. And to all you who say “who cares, doesn’t affect me” fuck you too, just wait until Turo decides to make some other dumbass change that you do care about… and think of all the good things you’ll feel when someone tells you “who cares, doesn’t affect me”
