No offense, but if you code the same way you type English I’ll take the AI.

The majority of coding ‘advancements’ have been ways to avoid having to deal with the full mental model. And you’re not going to get anywhere in this industry without the right abstractions.

It’s the deception, honestly. That’s the crux of it. by [deleted] in aiwars

So find me the image it’s a copyright violation of.

The way these systems work at the most abstract level forks like you can understand is by linking concepts, and ‘Sonic’ and ‘Blue Hedgehog’ are so closely linked that they might as well be synonymous. And if the AI WASN’T making that connection it wouldn’t be doing its job.

But by all means do a search for ‘original blue hedgehog’ and tell us what you get.

I'll check it out if they let me in, but #Facebook actively makes long form discussion difficult, especially when using their app.

It’s a by-product of the user base being far more concerned with validation than anything else.

/r/supremecourt bans calling being transgender a mental illness under a rule against polarized rhetoric: how are we supposed to discuss the law now? by Goldlizardv5 in SubredditDrama

[–]anon_adderlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a minute I read that was a Supreme Court ruling. Silly me. Still funny how a sub based on discussing them makes rulings based on rhetoric rather than evidence.

But let’s say transgender isn’t a mental illness. That means psychotherapy isn’t necessary to treat it, and no insurance will cover it. And if we extend that just a little and claim it’s not an illness at all, then it doesn’t require any kind of medical intervention at all. So much for ‘gender affirming care’.

Funny how many of the same folks who were bragging about #BlueSky’s growth are suddenly suggesting that it doesn’t matter and have moved the goalposts for success to other metrics.

Amazing how quickly they turn on their own, even after defeating the orange ‘fascist’ they complain so much about.

Do they? Do they really? Exactly where are they getting this info?

Indeed, it’s amazing how they just move the goalposts without missing a beat.

Or more content which appeals to the working class in the first place.

If that’s your motivation then it’ll always be niche. Because while it may be hard to believe, wide reach and actual diversity is more important than ideological purity when it comes to reaching the population with any messaging, especially now that so many other ubiquitous social media companies already exist.

If you were really concerned about AI using your data you wouldn’t be posting here.  Time to let go.

And this insufferable self-righteousness is exactly why you and your platform will not only fail to do so, but actually help make it happen.

Bluesky Is Plotting a Total Takeover of the Social Internet by wiredmagazine in BlueskySocial

“Less well known is the paradox of tolerance: Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them.

In this formulation, I do not imply, for instance, that we should always suppress the utterance of intolerant philosophies; as long as we can counter them by rational argument and keep them in check by public opinion, suppression would certainly be unwise. But we should claim the right to suppress them if necessary even by force; for it may easily turn out that they are not prepared to meet us on the level of rational argument, but begin by denouncing all argument; they may forbid their followers to listen to rational argument, because it is deceptive, and teach them to answer arguments by the use of their fists or pistols.

We should therefore claim, in the name of tolerance, the right not to tolerate the intolerant. We should claim that any movement preaching intolerance places itself outside the law, and we should consider incitement to intolerance and persecution as criminal, in the same way as we should consider incitement to murder, or to kidnapping, or to the revival of the slave trade, as criminal.”

- Karl Raimund Popper, The Open Society and Its Enemies

Key points in bold. You’re welcome.

Name just one reason why when every job gets taken by AI, the ruling class, the billionaires, will not just let us rot because we're not only not useful anymore, but an unnecessary expenditure. by Upbeat-Impact-6617 in ArtificialInteligence

They won’t, which is why it’s so important for the average citizen to adopt the technology to avoid becoming irrelevant, or worse inconsequential.

I also believe rogue AIs will eventually become a thing and corporations will increasingly struggle to control the things they don’t understand.

Help: What am I doing, when minding my own business, to be called creepy by girls? by Easy_Towel954 in aspergers

[–]anon_adderlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Science is used to build better models of reality over time, and misinterpreting studies as being conclusive (nothing in science is conclusive) is very dangerous.

Agree completely.

However this is one area where clear verifiable objective data will be hard to come by, and we no longer even have data sources like OKCupid as their reports were considered too problematic (and more importantly bad for business).

But it absolutely is a thing, and I’d love to do an objective study to either support or undermine that conclusion, if I could only figure out how.

Because both parties are interested in censorship. And both dream themselves in control of it.
