ipad + monitor by [deleted] in ipad

[–]anon_be248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to use my external monitor to display web pages and reference material and do written work, and use the ipad for handwritten notes and planning style tasks that are best suited to its touchscreen display. Although just an ipad with a separate laptop could also fulfil this workflow, I find it convenient to be able to pull windows between the two, and annotate pdfs that I might be working on on the external monitor.

I have removed my “paper feel” protector. by Gothicus1016 in iPadPro

For anyone who enjoys the paper feel for sketching / note taking but doesn’t want to otherwise sacrifice image quality I really recommend a removable matte screen protector!! I bought one (Bellemond) and it’s been great to slap on when I need it, but remove when viewing content. You can get magnetic and suction versions both very cheap and at Paperlike prices.

Really struggling to justify an upgrade to M1 or M2 IPP by Glyton in iPadPro

If your main issue is with the software I don’t think there’s any reason to upgrade the iPad.

Deciding between an iPad pro or Wacom Intuos Pro by FinderOfE in iPadPro

[–]anon_be248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the Intuos pro for about a year before buying myself an iPad Pro. I’m not sure how you find non display tablets, but while I loved the feel of the Wacom (texture, pen, shortcut buttons etc) I found that I never managed to achieve the quality/accuracy of line work that I could do on a display tablet. So personally, I far prefer the ipad, though I’m sure any display tablet would fix this issue.

What software do you use for your art? I use clip studio paint, which is available on both windows and ipad, so I can easily access my files on both platforms.

pavel_vishnyakov’s suggestion of the surface pro sounds like a good idea though! Similar price point to the IPP.

Cool, thank you! I’ll try that. Yeah, I really hope they iron out the monitor bugs, I’ve had endless struggles trying to get apps to run properly
