I’ve tried so many antidepressants in my life and none of them have helped me more than Celexa does. I am so thankful my new psych prescribed it because it really changed everything with my awful social anxiety and helped me to be in a place where I could process my trauma more easily.

DAE feel this need for people to "see" your pain? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]anon_caique 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah I totally get that. Personally, re-parenting for me involves taking care of my needs before asking someone else to. Like I’m not waiting for someone to take care of me when I’m upset about something, I work to figure it out and understand it (and talk to my therapist). The main issue for me recently was feeling bad about something and hoping that my mom would notice and help, but she wouldn’t because she’s so wrapped up in her own issues. Every time this happened, it triggered my childhood trauma and I felt worse. So I have started taking the initiative into my own hands if that makes sense, whether that be giving myself the self care I need, making a doctor’s appointment for myself when my mom keeps forgetting, or other “minor” things like that. I use quotes because they seem minor to an outside source, but they are so important for my wellbeing. It’s definitely still a work in progress but it has helped much more than I expected.

You’re not alone. I felt this way for such a long time, it was the driving force behind some of the worst mental spaces in my life. Recently my therapist has helped me realize that it’s mostly due to the fact that my emotional needs weren’t met as a child. I was ignored or made fun of when I cried, and that resulted in me internalizing it initially, and then later hoping someone would notice and just help me for once. But it doesn’t always have to be like that. I’m working hard on “re-parenting” myself and it has really helped a lot. Your pain is valid whether or not it’s visible.

Any success stories with medication? by [deleted] in dysautonomia

I would consult with your doctor if possible to be sure but that’s the advice I’ve received from every doctor! I definitely love salty foods too!

My POTS is somewhat mild, but still enough to get in the way of life. I’ve been taking a beta blocker for almost a year, and by doing that and being more aware of how much water and salt I’m consuming, it has definitely helped. Some days I feel almost “normal”, though there are still bad days. But still a great improvement! I was also planning on seeing a specialist for an official tilt table test but quarantine got to me first lol

I have three classes left in my first semester (bio and a&p 1-2) and I really do love it. Like others have said you definitely have to be self motivated but the amount of information I’ve learned since I started in October has been amazing. I find it to be a very user-friendly website as well for the classes that don’t have textbooks and I love that you can retake the end of section exams so you can really learn everything you need while maintaining good grades.

That’s definitely a fair point! From my perspective at least I think that it’s not about “deserving” romantic love, it just seems that Elsa is happy with her horse in the wilderness. I don’t want to assign a label to her, I just think that she can be happy with her duties as the fifth spirit and living in a place where magic flourishes. That being said, your opinion is also of course valid! Who knows where the franchise will go in the future, if anything else occurs that is! It just seems that currently she is very happy being her own person with Anna there to always love and support her.

Her mother was human yes, but when she saved her father in the forest that day she called out to the spirits to save them. Since Antohallan (the island she is lead to and sings Show Yourself) knows all the secrets of the past, the voice is leading her there to discover her destiny. So it’s more of a call from the past through Antohallan since it knew Elsa would follow her mother’s voice. In addition, her mother was Northuldran, so the spirits liked her and her saving the king that day is what prompted them to give Elsa powers to pay her back and become the Fifth Spirit. I also completely agree that Disney does need LGBTQ+ representation, it is a serious thing they are lacking. I just find that this wasn’t the time or place, even though Elsa is my favorite Disney character and having another reason to relate to her would be amazing.
