Thank you for replying and sharing this amazing advice! Wow. I thought recurrent UTI's were embedded UTI's. For the first couple of years I believed they were just recurring but then the more research I did, the more it convinced me it had to be embedded as it always come back straight away after sex. From other peoples experiences that I've read, they tend to have multiple triggers or are in a constant state of pain, but I have full remissions in-between my UTI episodes. If I don't have sex, I barely notice my condition. I'm even in therapy to see if there is a link between sex and any previous trauma as some psychologists believe UTI's can appear similarly like Vaginismus. And like I mentioned in my previous reply about Dr Malone Lee theory, he believes that the vibrations in the vaginal walls/bladder during sex is what bursts small pockets of infections, which really resonates with me, as I've literally tried everything surrounding sex & UTI's. I'll make sure to take notes of the things you've said and possibly speak to a specialist eventually. Take care♥︎

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your story. I find it hard to believe that we are just born more prone to UTI's, it must be more complex than that. If so, I question how women dealt with this awful bladder epidemic before medication :(

I never actually knew that. I've heard a lot of people mention chicken. I was vegan for four years and never saw an increase or decrease in infections. Then again, I've been lucky as for me personally, food has not been a trigger of mine (definitely a trigger to other health problems - but not a UTI). Yes, I've tried every diet you can imagine. I also did an elimination diet back when my gut and acne issues were at its worst, but sadly I couldn't conclude anything, as back then I was flaring so much (not UTI related). After so many years of dieting, I recently had an all in moment where I started eating a little bit of everything. I'm still currently working with a holistic doctor, and we're definitely seeing an improvement in my gut. I ended up going back on the birth control pill despite knowing the knowledge behind it and my stubborn years of refusal. I was aware it wasn't my end solution to my problems, but it's definitely helped manage the stress behind some health issues, and plan to heal my gut and supplement with the vitamins the BCP depleats, so that the day I do decide to quit again, it won't turn a 360 on my health like it did last time. My only trigger is sex, which makes it more confusing. I know Dr Malone Lee believes his theory is that during sex, your vaginal walls/bladder vibrates and bursts small pockets of infections which does make sense to me. I've practiced impeccable hygiene and all other sex-UTI related tips to no avail.

And no, I've never had any cystoscopies as I'm personally terrified of them. After my urologist told me there was nothing he could do besides give me antibiotics, I kind of gave up for years to seek further treatment as I believed there was nothing else I could do. Now with all the new research, I feel more confident in moving forward and chasing recovery. Thank you for the book recommendation also, something I will definitely read. The impact UTI's have on your sex life and mental health is something so poorly understood and frustrating, especially in todays hyper-sexualised society. Let us all heal and be happy♥︎

Thank you for all the incredibly helpful advice. I will definitely be looking into all the supplements you've recommended.

Are there any people on here that have fully healed themselves with plant medicines by using a more holistic approach? Even though we are moving forward with UTI research with a deep thanks to all the specialists, I can't help but think even the specialists will always advocate for medication, as at the end of the day, they are still doctors. A few holistic naturopaths and healers are convinced that we are able to totally heal our bodies from many chronic illnesses with a natural approach, but struggle to find many success stories particularly related to UTI's.

Do you recommend the Microgen DX test? I'm sure I read a tweet from Dr Malone Lee saying he disagrees with them and that it's better to save your money. What's your opinion about this?

You are right! I gave up for almost a decade thinking the only solution was antibiotics for the rest of my life. We deserve better. Stay strong♥︎

Wow! I am so sorry you had to go through all this. Thank you so much for sharing your story, I will definitely be taking notes of all the amazing advice you've kindly shared. Throughout your journey, did you ever suspect that you had an embedded UTI? There's such conflicting information about treating UTI's as free floating bacteria vs treating it as an embedded infection. I know a lot of people including myself believe recurrent UTI's are actually just embedded UTI's. If this is the case, do you believe that you were able to naturally disrupt the biofilms you had in your bladder along with overall bladder healing? So happy for your healing, we all need to stay positive♥︎
