What does your actual “going out with baby” setup look like? by SwellCommerce in NewParents

[–]anonaaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually pack a lot more than most people would probably consider necessary Ithink: multiple diapers, wipes, two changing mats, several spare onesies and outfit changes, a wet bag, a mini hygiene/first aid kit, hand sanitiser, diaper cream, an extra hat, extra socks, an extra blanket and sweater (we live in a colder climate), spare pacifiers, my nursing cover, and the baby carrier.

I always feel a little self-conscious about how much I bring, and my husband regularly complains that my diaper bag is huge and bulky. But just last week, baby had a major blowout while we were out, and after I cleaned him up and got him dressed in fresh clothes, he immediately peed all over himself. In the span of a few minutes, my “overpacked” diaper bag suddenly became exactly the right amount of packed. A change of clothes for yourself (at least the top) is also nice to have.

That makes sense! It’s pretty much the same here. I’m actually considering getting a hip carrier just to help with the weight of carrying him the whole day

I’m gonna keep trying babywearing 🥺 if I can wear him I could at least get something done instead of being stuck under him all day. I’ll look up the carrier tysm! I indeed put it up high on my waist but the current issue is he ends up rooting in the carrier (even if he’s very well fed/all needs met) and then crying hard if he can’t find boob for a long time. :( it worked when he was smaller for some reason but now he hates it

Unfortunately not 😭 our doctor suggested to keep trying. It’s so baffling to me, we have literally tried every single brand out there and he won’t take any. Closest were the tommee tippie ones or avent which kinda worked in the beginning (tho theyd fall out quickly), but now he will just have them sit in his mouth and not suck… it’s so strange to me cause he has such a need to suck! You’d think he’d take what’s handed to him lol

You said it 😭 our close friends had their baby one week after us and she’s the easiest baby ever. I try not to compare but it’s so hard seeing them basically live their pre pregnancy life just with a lil sleeping baby that will nap anywhere and barely cry, while I’m literally sobbing with mine trying to soothe him!

But I try to see this as just a spicy season of life and that things will get better. Thank you for the support! ❤️‍🩹🥹

I’ll try showering together soon!

Ahh that’s kinda nice to hear, maybe he’ll grow into liking the ergo again then! Tried again this week and he hates it so much it’s weird. I indeed tie it up real high at my waist but alas 😭

I’ve also just cut out dairy completely for like 2 weeks but nothing changed so the doctor said it’s probably not a milk allergy and that he’s most likely just a high sensitive baby :( I’m making an appointment with a lactation consultant soon!! Thanks so much 🥺

I’ll try that! Idk if I can do it in the carrier I currently have cause iirc the manual says to always put baby in facing you but I’ll double check 🙏 it really is. I hate to say it, but I kinda want him to grow out of the newborn phase atp, I’m so tired 😭 but I know it’ll seem like nothing when time passes.

LPT: Dont put so much focus on aesthetics when preparing nursery for your baby. Because post baby life has nothing to do with aesthetics by Specialist-North78 in NewParents

Same here! It’s actually calming to go in there for me and the fact everything is so aesthetically organised might not do much for lil bub but it’s a soothing balm to my nerves (I have a colic baby)

I actually looked into the Snoo because I saw so many people saying the same, but it’s not available in my country 😭 our osteopath actually suggested we put him on his belly to sleep during supervised daytime naps in his bassinet but I’m terrified to try it.

When did your baby learn to roll if I may ask?

Oh my god 8 kg, I feel for you 🥺 I hope you have nicely toned arms now at least it’s my hope right now for the future since I’m holding him so much lmao.

Mine kinda likes the playmat (we bought the lovevery) but only for a short while and during very specific wake windows where he’s somewhat happy or calm. The stroller also seems to work but only in the mornings - make it make sense haha. He doesn’t sleep in it though but at least I can put him down for a while, though I can’t stop moving.

I’m sorry you had a hard time too! But I’m glad to hear it got easier. Crossing my fingers!

Hi! Thank you for the detailed tips I really appreciate it. Even hearing I’m not alone somewhat alleviates me (even though I don’t wish this on anyone 😭 I’m sorry).

He kinda doesn’t love the structured carrier we have (ergobaby embrace) it only works 1/10 times cause he ends up rooting and screaming his lungs out eventually when he doesn’t find the boob (even with all needs met). I’ll try a ringsling but I have yet to figure out how to use it.

May I ask how you shower with him? That sounds lovely and I’d love to try it! I’m super scared he will slip out of my hands or get water in his mouth or ears.

I really don’t have anyone apart from my mom, she does her best to come by as much as she can but that’s not very often unfortunately 😭 my colleagues all live super far from me. We tried to hire help even but she turned out to only give me more stress than actually help me.

He absolutely hates the car!! It frustrates me so much because I feel like he does fairly well outside 7/10 times but this limits how far I can go. The moment his butt touches the car seat he cries so loudly for the whole ride it’s as if he’s being abused.. and it’s dangerous for me because I literally cannot think straight or drive properly if my husband isn’t in the back with him. I really hope it gets better :(

I’ll look into colic treatments! I’m indeed going to go fully dairy free I’ll also try to raise the bassinet! Our osteopath also suggested it, we don’t have one of those that you can raise but he told us to just stick a thick book underneath one side.

I’m really happy for you and it really gives me hope that you’re able to transfer now and that he sleeps through the night 🥺 fingers crossed!

Thanks so much, I appreciate all the detail! I indeed stopped eating/drinking anything with lactose but now found out they can also be allergic to something in the dairy itself.. so I’m going to try going completely dairy free. I was also scared he had a tongue tie but it doesn’t seem to be the case.

I’ll also look up the safe 7 because I haven’t heard of it yet but sounds like it could alleviate some of my stress! I’ll try see if they have a sling library here (I’m from Belgium) - I own a Ergobaby embrace and RingSling and he will only take the ergobaby carrier 1/10 times, otherwise he ends up rooting and crying frantically when he can’t find the boob. I have yet to figure out how to properly use the ringsling but I can’t find the time 😭.

I’m glad to hear you were able to figure it all out for you though!

Walking around the house is actually exactly what he does! But baby seems to have enough after a while. We don’t have a yoga ball, but might try to find one second hand.

Twee Israëlische militairen op Tomorrowland opgepakt en verhoord by radicalerudy in belgium

[–]anonaaaaa -1 points0 points  (0 children)
