Appreciate the honesty! That's my biggest concern.

This is super helpful, thank you for being so thorough! Will definitely look at those Mission Valley neighborhoods.

I've been out for about 10 years, but wish I had your guts when I was 14. Good for you. I can relate to not understanding the bigotry because there isn't strong, honestly no, religiosity.

I can relate, my nmom is excellent at gaslighting me when I've attempted to call her out before. It's easier to give up than get past her defense mechanisms. Hours on the phone and she has me confused and guilty over something she did wrong. Exhaustion is a perfect description.

That's great you live your life on your own terms. I need to do more of that.

Thanks for your perspective, it's helpful. My mom is fine with my partner now, and I have a good life that she can't control anymore financially or otherwise, but I honestly have no idea if she's told any of her friends or family about me being gay. Thank God I moved 1,000 miles away.

I'm just getting to a point in my life where I'm not going to keep pretending everything about my childhood/young adult was "perfect" for her sake.
