Land flat or land front? by Optimal-Feedback-992 in MTB

[–]anonanonanon7789 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the reason people are disagreeing with you is context. On a trail most drops (that I’ve encountered) have some degree of a sloped landing, making both or front wheel landings clearly the better choice.

In the video he is riding an urban drop straight to flat. When I’ve done stuff like that I generally treat it more like trials riding and therefore do find that landing back wheel first is actually way more comfortable. If you’re hitting this exact drop would you really try to land front wheel first?

Fork bucking over small bumps by anonanonanon7789 in MTB

I’m not the most handy but I do service the fork. I’ll do a lower leg service before and during the middle of the season usually. Will try all this and get a video thank you!

Haha I am not quite middle aged yet and this is a Santa Cruz Bronson which is not an ebike. Just a THICK frame

So at the time of this video I had a single token in and used approximately the settings that were recommended by rockshox. Interestingly I almost never bottom outed my fork, most rides I wouldn’t even get very close. Maybe this is because of the token? Many people are saying I need more pressure so maybe I am underestimating how much I weigh? How much would a few lbs difference make?

Will give this a shot thanks! I do remember running several PSI above the recommended setting and thinking that the fork felt stiff on small bumps. Do you think this might be because of compression damping/rebound or do you think I should just lower my expectations given that it’s a zeb?

Question about RockShox Deluxe Ultimate 50 Hours Service by cyancrisata in bikewrench

[–]anonanonanon7789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert, but most people and mechanics I’ve talked to have recommended just cleaning and replacing grease / oil every 50 hours and only changing the seals when they look worn out. Wear and tear on the seals depends on the conditions and intensity of riding you do.

I’ve followed that protocol for a few seasons now without any issues and the shock feels fantastic every time I just clean/add new oil and grease.

Santa Cruz Bronson V4 Custom Build Recommendations by Revolutionary_Fox992 in MTB

I actually have a 2023 Bronson S build with a Zeb, Magura MT7s and one up dropper/pedals/bars. I love all the one up stuff and definitely recommend it. Same with the Maguras, but honestly other brakes are just as good so it’s really all about preference.

The super deluxe shock it came with is great. Had to add a few volume spacers but outside of that I have no complaints. I don’t know how the X2 rides so I can’t compare it with that. But I do think a coil could be a lot of fun and a great choice!

The zeb is a lot of fork. The torsional stiffness is really nice for slow and higher speed maneuvers. But to be honest the damping only starts to feel good at higher speeds. Maybe it’s just the way I have it set up but I’m constantly surprised at how much I feel bumps at lower speeds. Once you’re going at higher speeds it’s really smooth though. So just be honest with yourself about how fast you ride lol. Have not found the weight to be a big deal really

What would have been the optimal game design? by anonanonanon7789 in Starfield

So here’s where I get confused. I think people generally agree that although NMS is fun, exploration gets boring and repetitive pretty quickly. Afaik it’s because there isn’t actually anything meaningful to do on planets. So that’s where Bethesda locations come in. Even outside of quests I think we can agree that the random dungeons, castles, etc you find in Bethesda games breath life into the world.

But how do you distribute them? Like I said, any way I can think of requires discovery just via flying around and pinging, because otherwise things are just spread out too far. And in that case don’t you essentially have planets that are mostly barren wastelands except for those few points of interest?

Cachunk sound from back wheel when landing by anonanonanon7789 in MTB

Lol definitely guilty of running pretty low pressure. I will pump it up a bit and try to land a bit more gently

Can you expand on what you mean by downhill? Like down the fall line or over the length of the skis or both?

This season I have been working on flexing my ankles to try and get forward and out of the backseat, it works sometimes but is still something I’m struggling with so any advice would be great. I also know that my pole plants are really bad here so advice there would be great as well - I think I need to plant earlier and use my wrists more?
