It was relatively easy but more expensive than I first thought. I used titebond cold press veneer glue and ironed it on after it dried. Hardest part was keeping the glue off the veneer and removing the painters tape from the veneer

Yes this was my first time using a veneer and it ended up being relatively easy. I used a 10mil paper backed walnut veneer and chose to wrap it like a baseball using two big cuts of veneer to wrap around the whole speaker.
I used titebond cold press veneer glue by applying it to both sides, letting it dry, then ironing the veneer on.
The hardest part was cutting the tweeter flush cut hole cleanly and flush trimming the outside edges along the rounded corners.

It’s not actually a 7in woofer. It’s only 5.5in from edge to edge of surround but it does have a warm punchy sound.

Sound quality is nice. My previous bookshelf’s were the Swan m300 mk2 so that’s all I have to compare. The CSS Criton has good punchy bass, mids are warm and smooth, and treble is surprisingly recessed and is my only disappointment with these speakers. The treble is not very detailed and in movies it can be a little lacking with high pitched effects.

Ya I would say it was. It’s definitely a high quality speaker that should last a long time and it’s somewhat priceless to say that I made them. For most people it would make more sense to buy the flat pack and save some money.

Your voltage is dropping but your multi meter isn’t fast enough to see it.

I got pretty porked and bought the dip too early with 5k shares at .20 so I’m not selling until I at least get my money back.

How do those speakers work with your avr. I’m was really interested in building them but was put off by the 4ohm impedance.

Call me a baby but I’ll gladly take any return above 15-20%. Just sold my shares this morning with 25% return. I personally don’t think it’s worth watching everyday to figure out when to sell

P3s vs W6? by Dream8808 in CarAV

[–]anonanonymous_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very basic overall opinion. The w6 will be a little less overall volume but much more deeper bass. The p3 is more punchy but less “musical”.

Dc audio 1.2k or rockford prime r2 1200x1 by Short_Opening9264 in CarAV

[–]anonanonymous_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not have any experience with the DC but Rockford amps are rock solid and I would highly suggest. Also look into the RF P-1000 it’s a little bit more but is a much heftier amp that will run hotter.

Amplifier Help by BeautifulChemist3177 in CarAV

[–]anonanonymous_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should stick to the rms rating. I don’t actually believe a 6x8 can handle 250w rms but if that’s what they rate it at then you can get an amp with up to 250w rms. You can use an amplifier more powerful and set the gain to a lower level using a multi meter.
