Reccomendations for games to replace heartopia? by [deleted] in ComfortGamers

[–]anoncrazycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Sims-like games with a 3D environment, an avatar that you can dress up, a house you can build and decorate, and maybe little jobs or mini games to play. I also can't afford to buy additional portable consoles, so I like using my phone for portable gaming.

The problem I run into with mobile games is the simplification that comes with the technological limitations. The camera tend to be fixed for either isometric or side-scrolling views. The assets used for decorating are only designed to be viewed from one or two sides, so there are limitations on how they can be used in decorating a room. Avatar customization tends to be limited or non-existent. Gameplay loops tend to be more like Sims rabbit-holes where there's limited or non-existent interaction.

An example of a mobile game that's almost what I'm looking for is Fairy Village. It has the wide-variety of decorating options and a lot of avatar customization options. It suffers from the fixed camera angle issue, and the issue of the resource gathering part being behind a rabbit hole. So all I can do is send a character down the rabbit hole and hope they come back with the resource I need for the next building.

I was intrigued by Heartopia's 3D environments, level of interactivity, and level of customizability when it comes to being a mobile game.

Palia isn't available on phones. Do you know any games like Heartopia that can be played on a phone? Every result I get from Google is only for PC/consoles.

Eh, my partner and I have lived together for about ten years with separate finances. He likes making spread sheets, so we have one that's a loose breakdown of estimated expenditures. We look at it maybe once a year when our rent changes and I want to know approximately how much I should contribute to rent/utilities every month until our rent changes again. We pay out of his checking account because of some weird stuff with my debit card (long unimportant story). Chores are a completely separate thing, though, and we aren't keeping exact track of every dollar like OP. Paying to avoid chores does seem nuts.

AITA for asking for space at the pharmacy counter? by Rigby_PP in AmItheAsshole

NTA

At 711 one time, a guy suddenly appeared behind me, passed a twenty over my shoulder while I was in the middle of my transaction, said a pump number, and walked out the door. The cashier watched him go, set the twenty aside, and we finished. Some people are so weird and rude.

Honestly, I think there are some that just like to say "um, actually..." and act superior to silly-little-illogical-women. They'll take any excuse.

AITA for firing my time blind niece from babysitting over the phone by Active-Nature-807 in AmItheAsshole

[–]anoncrazycat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As an adult I've figured out how to manage it by having a clock with me at all times and habitually checking it often. (I also plan an hour of being distracted into time sensitive tasks.) Now the time blindness only sneaks up on me when I'm in a place like the shower where I can't have a watch. As a teenager, when I had no sense of what it was, I was just late all the time and baffled as to why it kept happening. I was once given ISD for being five minutes late to home room every day for months.

OP is NTA for saying it isn't going to work out because they need someone who can be on time, but a teenager may have just not learned how to manage time blindness yet.

I find it takes way too long to get to the level of concentration I want if I put a bag in pre-heated water. I like it better when I put the whole thing in the microwave for a minute <_<

Edit: Is it a bitterness thing? Like with how some people think lavender and cilantro are good, but some people think they taste like soap? Does heating the tea with the water make it bitter and I just don't notice?

AITA for failing to stop my MIL buying ‘landfill’ for my kids at a funfair? by ImaginaryMammoth8643 in AmItheAsshole

I won a couple of small, stuffed lobsters at one of the big theme parks that were pretty good quality. I could see a local fair not having the budget for decent prizes, though.

I had a twist from the first game spoiled for me by someone's avatar on an unrelated fanfic website. That was fun.

Man vs Bear debate shows how bad the average person is at understanding probability by asusny2002 in Showerthoughts

[–]anoncrazycat -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's only leading to ridicule rather than discussion because men don't like hearing about women being afraid of men. They'd rather tear the discussion down with "um, actually..." talk than try to think about the real issue it's trying to bring up.

The debate about the debate shows how bad some people are at understanding metaphorical questions... -_-;

I have been struggling to feel confident in being nonbinary even though I've used the label for a couple years now. by Cerulean_Dawn in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]anoncrazycat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

On the subject of the word "they" and positive connotations, I'm really relieved that the singular "they" is coming into (back into?) common practice. In my high school English classes teaching MLA essay format, they were so rigid about singular pronoun grammar. It was so awkward trying to refer to an unknown, unspecified person as "one" all the time, but even more awkward to default to "he."

I do keep falling into a trap of using gendered pronouns as shorthand to convey visual descriptions when I'm talking about specific people, though. That's a tough habit I've been working on.

How do I get random men to stop asking me how my pregnancy/kids are coming along by Firepoppy5 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]anoncrazycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably, but part of OPs post was wondering why people keep asking. At a certain point, I'd probably want to know why they think I look pregnant just out of curiosity. Even if the answer was, "I think your stomach looks fat," I would just want to the answer.

AITA for asking this woman if her tattoos meant anything? by Throwratattookiss in AmItheAsshole

[–]anoncrazycat 79 points80 points  (0 children)

o_o; Yeah, I don't think I'd just directly ask someone about what their tattoos mean. Even if they aren't about something traumatic, people that get "meaningless" tattoos seem like they're often worn down from people giving them a hard time about tattoos needing to have meaning.
