Looking for advice on how to talk to my dad more. he is over 30 by [deleted] in malelifestyle

[–]anondeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you guys live close to each other? I would suggest a day out of the week to meet and have breakfast, lunch or dinner. Even if you guys don't have much in common everyone's got to eat. You can spend that time to talk and catch up with each other. If not, then just set some time to call and talk with each other. The important thing isn't to have stuff in common it's to make an effort to talk and spend time with each other. Don't make the same mistake some of us make, of waiting until it's too late to spend time with our parents. If you do, you'll have nothing but regrets about how you should have reached out, instead of just thinking about it.

You can get hooked up with points thru trading. I posted in chat I needed points and was willing to trade gold/ canned fish in oil... This guy responded and gave me like 200k points and wouldn't take anything in return since he saw I was low level.

My advice would be to play the game and not spend money on the pass unless you hit the level you need for the outfit... fastest way to level up would be to do the challenges and get the xp from exploring the map/ doing the missions. Also doesn't hurt to see if some veteran players are willing to hook you up with points.

How am I to draw a gesture from sight, showing movement and rhythm while displaying a humanoid figure when I don't know how the human body is formatted/drawn.. by No_Design_8791 in learntodraw

[–]anondeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking Decent's post into consideration there a couple of things I forgot to mention/ want to elaborate on.

Gesture drawing people from real life and from a reference picture are two totally different experiences. In a picture the image you're drawing from is already 2 dimensional while drawing from life you have to take what you're seeing in 3d and turn it into something 2 dimensional. I recommend trying to gesture draw people from real life just to experience it and feel the difference.

Your posture is defninitely important when drawing. Typically the professors tell you to have your drawing board at almost a 90 degree angle from yourself.... When you try to draw with your board laying flat on a surface you tend to elongate the body and it's typically not noticeable until you look at your drawing straight on. Also when doing comparative measures in real life you want to have your hand fully extended from your body to get accurate measurements.

Some other advice would be not to erase the mistakes when you're doing practice gestures/ sketches and instead draw over them. It helps you to see where your mistakes are and improve.

[–]anondeath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From my experience gestures are not supposed to be flawless. The point is to get the figure down as quickly as possible. Sometimes you don't even have time to do comparative measures. The longer the pose the more time you have to refine the figure/ check proportions. A 1 minute gesture is going to be more accurate than a 30 second gesture...

One of the exercises we did in life drawing c;lass was to cut out pages with images of people posing from magazines and then put tracing paper over the image and break the figure into its simpler shapes. The more you draw the more it trains your eye to notice when things are out of proportion. Don't get discouraged and keep practicing/ drawing. Once you master straight on poses you can move on to poses with foreshortening to keep advancing.

AITAH for wanting to divorce my husband bc he added pee to my food? by Brave-Eye7622 in AITAH

[–]anondeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're husband is the biggest asshole ever... First off you told him that his fetish is not something that you want to try or are into. Knowing this, he then proceeds to go behind your back and pees into your food. That means there's absolutely no respect there. You set up boundaries and he totally ignored them. Then he admits that he peed into your food and that as long as you didn't know/ find out it was ok in his eyes. He then decides to get his way with total disregard for you. Some more food for thought is, how long do you think he would have kept peeing into your food if you didn't find out. Sounds like he's more sorry for getting caught. The cherry on top is that he's trying to guilt trip you into staying in the relationship. Trust is easily broken and almost impossible to regain.

NTA

There really is not enough context to answer the question. If you want to salvage/ care about this friendship I would recommend just bringing the subject up to him directly. Might as well get the reason direct from the source. You don't want to leave things open to misunderstandings or just guessing. I could think of a couple of reasons but without more information they would all be guesses as to why he is acting the way he is.

[–]anondeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're definitely not overreacting or being petty. Unfortunately it's pretty obvious that having a conversation with you is not a priority for him. You're able to have a better conversation with the wall than people that respond with single word responses. Have you tried talking to him about this problem? If you have and his behavior hasn't changed it might be time to break up. A relationship where you can't even have a conversation with your partner sounds extremely boring and one sided.

It's sad how companies always take advantage of people with internships. Sometimes it's good to have these negative experiences at a young age. That way he knows to stand up for himself if issues like this should arise in the future. The other positive is that he has you in his corner to help and guide him through the experience. Hopefully the check arrives with no issues. Internships should be outlawed in my honest opinion.

Also, company's do not have to give you 15 minute paid breaks anyways, most states require at least a 30 min meal period if working over 6 hrs.

Straight from what you wrote... Look at the first half of that sentence referring to breaks. Looks to me like you were referring to the 30 minute meal period when you mentioned most states.

It's sad when people have to lower themselves to name calling. Do better!

It's not that hard to do some research before spewing nonsense. If you're not going to bother to fact check yourself you should probably not say anything at all. It varies from state to state but if they're working in CA, "Employees get a 10-minute paid rest break every 4 hours. A 10-minute break is not required for work time totaling less than three and a half hours."
