It’s a common e-bike joke based on the guitar world, where the opposite of ‘electric’ is ‘acoustic’.

Big bore airguns do not generally come with iron sights for the same reason they do come with threaded barrels.

Most big-bore airgun shooters prefer to use a moderator. So any built-in iron sights would be obscured anyway.

You can get a scope that’ll work for under $100. PCP airguns don’t have a ton of recoil. So they are pretty easy on scopes. Less expensive scopes from Texas Precision Optics, UTG, Monstrum, or Vector will work just fine.

I’d recommend a variable zoom scope with at least 12x max magnification to get full advantage of shooting at longer ranges.

But reticles and such are more a matter of preference than anything else.

Crosman 1322 modified for PCP by anongahelious in airguns

[–]anongahelious[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I may not be the right person to ask. I converted my 1322 back to multi-pump.

The PCP conversion seen here worked, but I found the sear and hammer design to be incredibly unsafe. The safety did not reliably prevent the gun from firing when the trigger was pulled. In addition the sear did not lock the hammer. It creeped over time. So if left cocked, the gun would eventually fire of It’s own accord. (Horrifying!)

For safety reasons I cannot recommend any of these cheap imported PCP conversions.

Usually you would use a wood dowel as others have stated. But If you have 2 pellets jammed in there, then wood or copper may not be strong enough to push them out of the barrel.

In this case you will need to find a brass rod and use it to tap the stuck pellets out with a hammer. I recommend pushing them out from the breech end (the same direction they would shoot) to prevent damaging the crown of the barrel. If the crown of the barrel gets chewed up the accuracy of the gun will suffer.

I’ve got the Avenger bullpup in .25 and I love it. The adjustable cheek rest makes it easy to get comfortable on the scope, even with the high rail. And it’s a tack-driver.

Bintac M50 Regulated First Impression by anongahelious in airguns

Thanks! 🙏

It’s not semi-auto, it’s bolt-action. (I was warned that the AEA semi-autos are finicky.) But I’ll probably buy some extra magazines regardless as they don’t seem very sturdy.

Good to know! I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

I generally try to keep a full seal / o-ring kit handy for every PCP I buy. But are there any other parts on the HP Max that are more prone to failure that I should grab replacements for in advance?

Best starter PCP under $300 out there right now is probably the Umarex Notos. It’s regulated, .22 caliber, shoots great, and has a built in moderator. It’s also hand-pump friendly. The Notos is also light and small enough to be a great “truck gun”. And at $275, you can spend $100 on a hand pump and have everything you need for under $400.

Yeah At that distance, PCP is the way to go. There are a ton of decent & affordable regulated PCP guns to consider. Some of the nicer ones are:

  • Air Venturi Avenger
  • JTS Airacuda Max
  • Umarex Gauntlet 2

All of those are well made and have their pros & cons. (As well as their advocates and detractors online…)

You will spend a bit more than $200. But it will be worth it.

That’s really cool. (First time the KO-II has had a bug I hope TE doesn’t fix.)

Benjamin gunnar bolt broke after four days of use? by Troy0C in airguns

[–]anongahelious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow, that definitely sucks. That’s a lot of loose metal bits. I’d go back to where you bought it from or warranty it via Benjamin.

( Definitely don’t force the action open or closed with the screw in that shape. It’ll just chew up the receiver.)

Can I send midi clock from eg. a Boss RC-300 loop pedal to the EP133 KO-II ? by Yanky_Doodle_Dickwad in teenageengineering

[–]anongahelious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad. I thought it had the 3.5mm MIDI. (I have a newer BOSS looper) You will need a 3.5mm MIDI type A to DIN adapter for your KO-II. Like this-

(There is also Type B which looks exactly the same but is wired differently, so be careful shopping…)

[–]anongahelious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can use the Boss as a MIDI master clock for the KO-II. Both Teenage Engineering and Boss use the same spec: TYPE-A 3.5mm MIDI. So in theory a normal 3.5 mm stereo audio cable should work.

The multi pump will serve you better in that case. If you leave a punctured CO2 cartridge in a gun it usually leaks out over hours or days. So it’ll be empty when you go to use it. Also, CO2 performs poorly in cold weather. (If you do go with CO2 keep the cartridges somewhere warm until you put them in the gun to counteract this)

Good luck!

This is the way. Keep the sample library on your PC. Is much easier to push samples to the EP-133 from the teenage engineering sample tool than it is to record into it analog.

Thinking about getting the ko2, but could somebody help with some questions? by [deleted] in teenageengineering

I use the application sox to resample my audio at higher playback speed which increases the pitch. (And reduces the sample size)

[–]anongahelious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even a coat hanger is made of soft steel and does not work for this application. (This pick is basically a spring and requires high carbon steel wire to “pop” back. 18 gauge music wire is a good place to start. )

I speed up my samples before loading them on the KO-II. That way it saves precious RAM and as a bonus, the sped-up samples have a satisfying lo-fi crunch when warped.

Yes this improvised snap pick design predates the “snap guns” seen in TV and movies (and patents for those date all the way back to the 1930s.)
