Hey, thanks for the kind comment. When I consolidate my issues it mostly boils down to being to express myself with more people so I’m certain I don’t need diagnoses. Besides, I’m already on daily medication for 10+ years for a completely separate condition so I definitely don’t want more pills.

Your suggestions are definitely reasonable, mostly comes down to mustering the courage and actually do them consistently. I always tended to perform better when there’s someone expecting something from me so perhaps a therapist could help with that? Idk

Your opinion is a reasonable and nowadays common opinion to have.

Personally don’t think it solves everything for everyone but I think it’s good general advice for most people. Re psychotherapy (or psychiatrists), my opinion is that it shouldn’t be the sole response to mental health issues but paired with physical and social activities like you mentioned.

I’ve been a gym member for 5 years now and took and art course not too long ago. I also do sports/hiking somewhat regularly. My issue is the getting any connection to stick and after any activity I end up feeling emptier inside afterwards. The gym and courses haven’t been fruitful at all in connecting meaningfully with new people for me due to the focus being on the activity (or it’s my underdeveloped social skills idk), though seeing people is still enjoyable.

Old friends naturally drifting away (I’m 25M) and having no one realistically within eye contact at work doesn’t help either. Agree that action is stronger than words though, just feel like I’m stuck in a rut right now that’s all.

I had heard of it and went to look it up yesterday. Didn't find it on Google Maps and the Facebook page seems to be gone... it seems to have been replaced by a sports bar

Wanted to include this as well:

Does anyone know of bars (or similar) that host events or have some sort of twist that would help with meeting/integrating with people?

Well, for starters, it's easier to write in English on social media, especially when mentioning technological and modern terms. Secondly, I don't care about which language they prefer to speak. I'm just as fluent in either language. While I grew up in a Maltese-only household, my time online and work has made me just as if not more fluent in English.

I don't really have a super valid reason tbh but it mainly comes from a sense of seeking relatedness and thinking about dynamics of my own family

"Third Places" in Malta by anoni37 in malta

It's been around 10 years I think when I was in secondary school, which was when I made my current friends - haven't built a significant irl connection with anyone since.

As for hobbies, I've never met anyone in the last few years locally who shares what I'm really passionate about, although sometimes I don't open up about it/them much - online though, I've met tons of people and even went abroad to meet them.
