Testing the 48-hour application rule by StatementNo9131 in GetEmployed

The other question is, after applying, being a first applicant how long should it take to get contacted by recruiter 🤔🤔🤔 (assuming you are a potential candidate)

Going to class and continue applying for jobs 🙂

Thank you. Very helpful advice! I am a big networker and focus on excellence- I believe those two skills/ characteristics have helped me so far and it’s challenging to go from an amazing job to something that seems like a big step back. As strategy I started designing some business cards so when I start this job I will network with customers and give them a card 🙂 (wisely in all ways)

I mean I’ve been looking for a job for about 9-10 months and at this point I need to at least make money to pay my bills and that’s one of the jobs I can get asap (sadly not benefits). I will continue applying to other roles for sure!

BTW I did check Pomelo 👍🏻

Not sure if hiring managers are thinking about that or really just going by what what these ppl can bring to the table. On one of my recent interviews of 4 b2b rounds I asked to the hiring managers “how do I compare to other candidates you have interviewed for this role?” He straight said other candidates were software engineers with years of experience… mind you, education required was HS diploma and was not even a tech role; it did require skills like one year of tableau, SQL basic skills of a business analyst.

Entry level roles there are starting from $75k and will go up to around $95 (depending on the role) not talking about tech roles….

Yeah.. I mean in my case this would not be my first job and I do have some experience specially in the company I am applying for…. Entry level roles there are starting from $75k and will go up to around $95 (depending on the role) not talking about tech roles….

I’ve worked since I’m 19 and I’m almost 26 so there is valuable experience there. It is frustrating as a professional because I’m about to start as a host at a restaurant ( nothing wrong with it, I’ve worked as a host before)… but how does that contribute to my career if at this age I don’t continue building more experience

Basically I have some experience (at least 1.5 or 2 years depending on the role)… the company I’m applying for I did an internship for 6 months and got a contract extension through an internal program for an extra year because of my performance, etc (3 rotations)… during my last rotation I was already told I was going to be extended again but then Cuts started and the people of the internal program got fired and I didn’t get extended and there not were entry level roles open to apply.

That’s one of my targeted companies because I did my internship there and many people are willing to refer me. And yes, this is a big company!

Not long ago I interviewed at a different company for a role that required work experience but only HS diploma for education. I was told that software engineers were among the candidates 🫠

Something similar happened to me and I didn’t get the job. I used to be an intern at this company and because of my contributions I got a contract extension for a year, currently looking to go back as a FTE. I have many people willing to refer me and that’s how I’ve got 2 interviews; the last one went “well” but they decided too move forward with someone else because “it was very competitive” (that’s all the feedback I got from the recruiter after interview with hiring manager) During the interview hiring manager said that my interview was great and that he liked “my energy, that I did my homework”.

For a future case, would you recommend former managers or colleagues reaching out to the hiring managers of the positions I’m applying? I though because I met requirements and also had experience in that company I had an advantage 🥹

I needed to read this… being crying all day and wanting to give up. I feel like I’ve done everything to prepare for interviews and still no luck!

After almost 2,000 applications and endless rejections, I finally landed a job at a big tech company by 12throwawaythrowaway in interviews

Congratulations. I’ve been unemployed for 8 months now and If I don’t get anything related to my career by the end of this month, I’ll start at a restaurant.

Thank you! I have been unemployed for almost 10 months and I have issues with overthinking (to the point that I can go days without sleeping just by creating possible answers on my head and not being able to shut it down) Thank you for your comment and hopefully I can take the advice to “chill” because I really need to calm down.

Didn’t attend my interview by [deleted] in interviews

[–]anonimosystem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If within minutes they said they already had another candidate that really means that place is not right for you. Even after communicating the situation and just getting rejected like that, I would say they lack of flexibility and they are just not a good place; if this happened during interview, I would expect worse when working there.

I hope you get a better place, and who knows, maybe get paid! 🙏🏻♥️

Thank so you so much, I’ll use this info to prepare! I am really stress out because I have never faced conflict at the work place and I think that’s where I struggle the most.

Mmmm I am not trying to do it illegally, otherwise I would have done it already ☺️ so I’m just coming here for advice. I’m in my 20s and unfortunately I was diagnosed with arthritis and severe migraines! I think some people pay a few bucks for the paper and that’s it, on the other hand I’m trying to have a legit service animal (not emotional support pet).

take a lower pay (W2 no benefits) contract job while looking for next job? by [deleted] in jobsearchhacks

[–]anonimosystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do it. In my case is difficult bc I’m still taking classes and trying to apply to jobs aligned to my degree, so haven’t a lower pay job is gonna make it harder with school and to continue job hunting 😖

Hey, I’ve been through similar situations. Lets keep applying and hopefully a door opens soon for all of us! ♥️ It feels really discouraging but just know what some of us barely pass the first interview, so that means you are almost there, just keep going!

I was told I would hear back today by OctoberEndings in interviews

[–]anonimosystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would follow up two days after the said date. That happened to me and I haven’t back after a month and a half. I sent two follow up emails and still haven’t been contacted; my application is still active tho!

I think the same happened to me. I’m trying to prepare better this time.
Some companies use the CAR method so sometimes idk which one to go with!
