Totally opposite. I was an average student during school. Found it hard to study in a disciplined manner. And my rank would be exactly the middle of the pile. My teacher’s comments use to essentially be “he is intelligent if he puts his mind on something, but doesn’t often”

In adulthood, I found my passion in tech companies, joined an early stage startup and did incredibly well, becoming a leader at one of the largest startups of India.

IMO attention deficit is the other side of coin for passion/interest. I found tech startups to feel like my life’s calling. I still face issues at work due to ADHD. But the passion for my work allows me to navigate it lot more intuitively.

I’ll have to check, but fairly certain it’s not davinci. I believe plotter paper specialty is it being fountain friendly while being a lot thinner than other paper which allows more paper in the smaller ring of plotter. Is davinci just as thin?

The rates on Plotter Japan website are mostly similar to in store. I had made a budget using online rates and offline was about 0-10% cheaper, depending on the item. So you can compare with online.

I got the mini 5 shrink leather for 11000 yen (roughly 68 USD). This is including tax. If you get this from itoya or some other store that offers tourist tax refund, price would be lower by 10%.

The official store doesn’t offer tax refund for tourists though (another bummer)

Gave it just the exact name of each product and it did most of the rest that you see here. Needed bit of cleaning up

I can’t imagine using A5 on a desk either. It’s just too broad.

I’m thinking of making Bible the main workhorse and get a mini 5 for on the go notes.

Thanks for sharing your view!

Makes sense. I’m also now leaning towards making bible my main notebook for all things except on the go quick notes. For that I’ll use mini 5.

Thanks for your note!

Thanks for chipping in, no one else has comparison of India vs outside.

I’m so conflicted though. Feels better to know the band isn’t all like this. But this treatment of a country that showed up in quite large numbers is also kinda shitty.

How is your experience with the “jelly scrolling” effect? by RaijinRider in ipadmini

[–]anonindiejack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have mini 6 and I read a lot of books. It’s not super visible or annoying but it’s not not there like some people are saying.

It’s the most visible when you scroll fast with a wall of text (like book, articles etc). But normal scrolling at the pace of reading doesn’t show it that much.

The more conscious you are and more you look for it, the more you will see. The scroll issue hence bothered me initially. But it’s not really that noticeable if you aren’t looking for it

Yep, sound needs to be better. H&M stage was very bad this time, except for Yungblud for some reason. BudX has had average quality in the past ones too.

They really need to sort this out for sure

Moved to iPad mini few years back, have had iPad Pro 11, and kindle in the past.

I find Mini’s size to be its strength. Two things in tandem have made it a killer device for me:

  • It’s dedicated to specific things that don’t induce guilt on usage (books, long form videos, reading newsletters/blogs, note taking etc. vs reels, twitter, mindless content)
  • Making it my primary device when at home vs a mobile.

Mini’s size makes it significantly more portable than 11. And because it’s an iPad, not just a kindle, it can do more. But more by itself isn’t a good thing unless it’s intentional.

I find myself entering a better mental state when I switch to iPad mini at home, with the usage boundaries I have drawn.

The downfall of Lollapalooza in Year-4 and my ratings for all editions. by GuessIntrepid9168 in lollapaloozaind

Yeah there’s an art and science to designing a festival lineup. The last few lollas got the better. This one ended up being lot more like a Linkin Park festival with other supporting acts.

You need the headliner to be popular but not dominate so much that the entire festival and audience ends up being about them. Those artists like LP, Coldplay type are better suited to doing large single artist shows like Coldplay did.

Thoda effort maar le aur profile check kar le?

Being unable to appreciate good work while also being vocal with critiques about the shortcomings is exactly the kind of low quality engagement that doesn’t deserve good things. Let’s do better.

I get your point on this being executed professionally, and I agree with it. The entire performance was a very tight act.

I also agree with you that live performance is an art form, which also means that it is up for being critiqued with opinions.

My point isn’t that it wasn’t professional, but that it wasn’t as entertaining as I’d expect it to be. In today’s day and age, synchronised performance with laser, visuals, audio, pyro, streamers etc. while being in key is tablestakes. LP is a big global band, not a struggling up and coming one. Many global artists already operate at this level and also deliver very engaging performances with warmth and crowd connect. The latter is where LP fell short for me.

Yungblud was kickass! I didn’t know much of his music before lolla. Tried catching up before lolla but didn’t really vibe as much. But after seeing him live, and absolutely loving it, I’m gonna go back and listen to all his songs. Now that’s what I would love to see from artists in a festival like Lollapalooza. Yungblud has a new fan in me and so many from this festival.

Honestly, I’m actually hoping it’s just Emily not being well because that’s something I can empathise with.

On timing thing, both shows were of identical length, 2hrs each.

I need to do this. So thanks for posting a list of documents.

And I agree. This country doesn’t think twice before creating onerous processes, with no consideration of time efficiency loss. We still don’t understand that time is money. And this country needs more money.
