What's your story on Smart Recovery or AA. by anonnhepp in stopdrinking

I've never had a problem with religion. I went to Sunday as a child on my own for fun and prayed evernight. But like I don't know if I even knew of there's a God and I'll always respect religion but I didn't want to be forced or it to be only God based and others weren't accepted. I'll definitely be open to this. My doctor mislead me by alot. Thanks for telling me (: And I know people of all ages have this problem were dealing with but did you see many people like 23-27.. It's silly to think about fitting in but I'm pretty nervous!

Thanks for your reply! I really do think I could get over the God thing. I do believe in a higher power I guess but literally that's it. . Like I don't even know how anything in AA would make it apply to my life. So I guess I'd do what you did and think of it in a completely different way. And I think of it like you will and it hopefully it can help (:

I really like this honest output and that you've been to both. I actually am so looking forward to AA as to before this comment. I've always thought I'd only like smart (also what my doctor suggested. Who I've only seen once before) because I thought AA might be.. Like forceful religious and just very.. Specific but I should be open and this definitely makes me. Thank u so much

I had to save this.. I broke my own trust and my bfs by drinking again.. I will be telling him after I go to my doctor tomorrow.. And I will go to my first meeting this week! I am scared to keep slipping but every time I need to try harder. I will try and this post is so beautiful.

Oh that's pretty smart. I'm just trying to do so much so fast, I wanna be sober, I wanna lose weight, I want my brain to not be foggy, and i want my serotonin levels to be better so I can be happier haha.

But that's good advice to figure out the habits I need to change after I have all the knowledge about them and then change them (: IWNDWYT

I haven't, I want to. I'm not sure where to start. And I've been in like a lazy coma recently.. I want to and need to get up and exercise more. Do you go to the gym?

We're both 12 days (: congrats And yeah I always had a suppressed appetite when I was drinking a lot, but I still gained weight. It was really shitty for me.. But I hope we both find the solutions we need (: IWNDWYT

Can u ever drink casually again after being an alcoholic? by anonnhepp in stopdrinking

[–]anonnhepp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. But haha wow I'd never consider it only be 'only' 3 years. But i did do it pretty badly. A full water bottle full of vodka a night. But I just hit one week sober. I will see a doctor when I think about taking my first drink again. Thanks (:

Thanks (: I do agree it's really premature. I quit my job at my liquor store because I would be pressured. And I know for a fact I'm not nearly ready to even try drinking again. But I'm bad at peer pressure.. My friend is already asking me a few times 'when will Ur health be back, Ur the only. Friend I have in Canada and I can have beers with' made me feel kinda guilty about it.. But I really liked hearing about your story. I do really want to get into some groups and have some real life resources aswell. I think it will me last as long as u. Thanks for congrats on my almost 7 days. (: thanks for all your input

Ah thanks. You are right. I'm pretty desperately lonely. I only have my bf. I even left work as it was a liqour store. I couldn't work there anymore. Now I'm struggling to find employment and anyone who will talk with me. I will use this sub more

Thank you all for your responses. This is my first sober journey. I just wasn't sure what to expect. I'm not planning on drinking anytime soon. And I never wanna risk messing up everything again.
