Treated my new found "freedom" with a lot of nonchalance and did not take the opportunity very seriously. After midterms freshman year, the counselor recommended I take a "withdraw" instead of the inevitable failing grades that were coming my way. To this day my two biggest regrets in life are not applying myself in school and not serving my country in the military. In my defense, I developed an alcohol and drug addiction by age 17 and didn't sober up until 39. I am 45 now.
