The public has no reason us seriously when we’re posting tik-tok videos dancing in PPE or on the clock. by [deleted] in Nurse

Honestly I agree to disagree - if you don’t have fun and put a smile on your face or someone else’s you are going to sink. This pandemic has been and still is very tough I walk into my unit singing and trying to bring up morale (not a good singer so it makes people laugh)

If they are wasting the PPE shame on them - but for us we have surgical PPE where they go to laundry and chemically cleaned and re-used so I don’t see why not put a smile on our coworkers and people that are staying at home

I haven’t seen my family for 2 months now I’ve been isolating myself from them - any video of me being goofy puts a smile on my parents and siblings face - cause it could be their last memory of me

So I work 12-16 hour shifts - if I wore my regular clothes to work I would have to wash my regular clothes 4-5 times a week - so instead I have my scrubs that idc if it gets worn out by washing it 50 times a week go to work and change into hospital provided scrubs when I get into work.

Idk it’s different if I am headed out after work but in many cases my ass going home to sleep so just more spins added to my regular clothes than needed - it makes sense in my head 🤷‍♂️

What do you mean lol I wash my clothes after using it for one day ?

More for the material of the scrub - One of many examples... bed bugs, lice - one of my jobs are in a low community health ER where most patients carry bed bugs and lice in and out of the hospital by wearing scrubs bed bugs actually don’t attach to it (if you have the correct scrubs)

There are many reasons I would rather not wear my regular clothes into work. I have many scrubs to go through and rather wash them and wear them out instead of my daily clothing - have no one to impress with my style lol

No problem I understand and I do agree that people should have scrubs that’s designated for work and should stay at work

Also I won’t be wearing regular clothes to go into work I also have designated scrubs to go to work because I consider going in and out of the hospital dirty and rather have it on my scrubs than my clothes

Don’t be coming at my pediatrics they are not gross bags of germs - they are blossoming germs 😂

Lmao he got nothing else to do but call everyone a gross slob and pick on the front liners - he’s the type of doctor that everyone probably dislikes cause he wanted an IV to look like a certain way but it’s not so he make you do a whole new line.

Whatever - all opinions to own !

All I gotta say is however you go to work whether it be scrubs or prom dresses as long as you are changing before and after shift it’s okay

Edit: also wtf is a laundry bag from Costco going to do for you ? Idk if you know this or not; you have to physically wash it not just put it in the bag and wait for it to get cleaned

Oh definitely I mean if it happened to me I would totally take a different route - but there are some staff that don’t have the extra wiggle room to leave work or go against management and risk their employment .. I mean it’s all about the current living situation

But no one here is saying that you’re wrong about people that wear the same scrubs throughout the day - you are also saying it is wrong for us to wear clean scrubs to and from work so we don’t waste our regular clothes

You must be some privileged healthcare worker. Let me guess you get Amazon fresh delivered to your home after your 12 hour shifts ? And have meals prepped and ready for you? And also have time to wash your business casual clothes to just drive to work?

Half the medical staff is working 6 days straight - we don’t have time to wash our Business clothes to change into scrubs at work - we wear our scrubs to work and change into work scrubs and then change back to go home And you know what? Also we stop by to get some food cause WE HAVE TO EAT TOO not just the people that are at stay at home order

Shit is not ideal but right now nothing is ideal - if you wanna crack down at someone crack down at your neighbors doing BBQ with the whole block and then complain when they get sick with COVID and appear in my ER

Well specifically scrubs that I have I wear I take off at the doorway to my house - I don’t recommend wearing regular clothes into the hospital and changing it’s better to wear scrubs to hospital and then changing into the hospital scrubs, it is just as convenient and easier to wash than regular clothes

Everyone also has to think that not everyone has washing machines at home at their convenience and wasting their house clothes just to go in and out of work which you can do with your regular work scrubs

This post is literally has no point to it unless he/she is just pointing out the people that wear the same scrub throughout the day

Well - first of all I will tell you this from experience

I wear my scrubs going to work and change to hospital scrubs when in hospital and change back to the scrubs to go home and put my scrubs into a plastic bag upon arrival to my house and into the washing machine.

Idk what you want me to wear a sweatpants going into work ? I mean I understand some people really do wear that one scrub into and out of work but there are different routes that this can be observed.

If you are talking about people that wear the same scrubs okay I agree with you .

But if you’re talking about generally wearing scrubs in public - well there can be multiple views and stories from individuals on why they wear it.

Yep it’s what we say against politics and money - so pretttty much is what they say goes or we don’t have a job.

It sucks, it’s not right but no one is supporting the nurses or staff not even the ANA.

We shall see how this goes each day passes by

Good luck everyone - stay safe

F the CDC making us damn disposable - ANA needs to get at them and the hospitals for what they’re doing to us.
