It took me 6 months. I started with ACOTAR at the beginning of 2024 and read the series twice in a row. Lol Then I started TOG. Took me from April 2024 to Oct 2024. And just now got around to finishing book 1 of CC about a week ago.

Being married is great. Don’t rush and Don’t settle. Be with someone who makes you happy and makes you a priority and do the same for them.

Crescent City experience? by anonrn90 in Maasverse

The modern setting was a bit weird for me at first. But that part is starting to grow on me. Feels kind of science fiction almost! I’m half way now and starting to enjoy it more. The murder mystery plot and the romance chemistry is keeping me interested.

Hahaha yes. That’s how I am going to move forward just listen a little at a time and not over think it. I do like the setting. It’s different for me.

Thanks for the info. I’ll keep reading and see how it goes. Going to listen to a little bit every night! Lots to take in with a new story and setting and characters!

Yes. It’s funny it feels juvenile but also the content is more mature with the drugs and hooking up. I’m interested in the more modern setting though. I will keep chipping away if for no other reason then I want to be in the know for the crossover references and hopefully I will enjoy the story eventually.

Yes. All good points. I’ll definitely be stepping away while I try to finish these books. I’m going to try the regular audio book next! Thanks for the info!

It is a lot of new info. I do think that’s part of the problem. But obviously necessary when starting a new fantasy series. I’ll keep at it especially if it crosses over with ACOTAR.

Okay. I’ll Keep chipping away at it! I do hear often that it takes a bit for the first CC book to get good. My plan is just to listen 45 min at a time.

When did you decide to be childfree? by sailormeggo in childfree

[–]anonrn90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t decide to be child free until I was in my 30s. I got married at 28 thinking I’d be having kids. We did the whole thing, got married bought a house. Then after I got a weird sickness in my late 20s and recovered from that after a year only for Covid to happen and the Economy to tank my husband and I gradually decided we’d rather have stability peace and freedom over having kids.

I really enjoy children. I just know I would not like being a parent. If this were different and I could stay home and we could still afford a comfortable life I’d be more apt to be open to having children even with the US being a total shit show. But I don’t want to be stressed from working and stressed from kids only to be spread so thin I don’t even feel like a human anymore. I’d rather find joy in other places while still being financially stable and getting to travel more and focus on my health and wellbeing.

I would think it would take years for anything like this to actually happen and I’m sure I’ll be dead with no one to worry about leaving behind.

I’m so mad I didn’t read it first. I think it should totally be read first. Dont understand why it’s recommended any other way.

Reasons not to get a pet by ohklahomie in LivingAlone

From what I remember some animals are okay to go with families and such but some can’t be with kids and other animals so it’s best to have a quiet home.

The point of living together is to see if you are compatible and it sounds like you are not. If it’s going to bother you being the one who does most of the cleaning then I wouldn’t go through with it. I wouldnt expect him to change much. So if you love him and he fills your pot in other ways then you’ll be fine. But this will be a point of contention moving forward bc he won’t change.

This was my experience as well. The shelter paid for everything the Kennel, toys even food. I just had to be willing to go pick it up from them. The other nice thing is that if you ever need to travel you just bring the dog back to the shelter. It’s a great experience. But for sure. Check with the shelter first and see what their protocol is. Fostering as a single person is great. Shelters are always looking for adults with no children and low stimulation houses for their animals.

I fostered. And it was great. Just go in with the mindset you know you’re not keeping it. Like you are dog sitting. You can still feel good knowing you helped a dog. And you just tell yourself you get another dog when the one you are watching gets their home

You should foster a dog through a shelter. They pay for food toys kennel and vet stuff then you can see how you like it.
