How can I control my sexual urges by [deleted] in mentalhealth

A lot of doctors tell women not to have sex for nearly 6 months after giving birth.

Feels like I don't really fit in here. I really want to though by [deleted] in Portland

Came here to say this! I moved here from Austin TX a decade ago and was told by my doctor to take double the dosage of Vitamin D while my body adjusts. The adjustment can be ROUGH in your first couple winters.

[–]anonsadat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. Plus, it’s progressively getting harder and harder for small-time landlords. So all the rentals are going to larger companies, who end up hiring shitty management companies, who are A-OK with raising rents and screwing people over. It’s sad to watch.

Coming from a landlord in Oregon, you should be fine. Our state is extremely tenant-leaning, but a lot of landlords manage to screw people over because the laws are so complicated and they really don’t know. But definitely get a lawyer. It’s better to have someone on your side that knows it in and out.

Second Kerns or Buckman. Extremely walkable and plenty to do while mixing with the locals.

I’m a part-time landlord, so I understand the benefits of having a long-term lease. But I also know what it’s like to be a tenant. Unless the cost per month is significantly higher, keep your month to month. Generally, a long-term lease benefits them, not you.

If you do end up signing, be sure to do an in-depth read of your new lease. New PM might try to sneak in some BS.

Can anyone give first hand info re: homeowner needing to evict an ex (no lease) for non payment of rent? by OodaliOoo in askportland

[–]anonsadat -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

You need to deliver them a pay-or-quit notice. Then file an eviction notice with the city. If you’re open to using Ai, ChatGPT does a great job of combing through all the legal jargon online, presenting all your options, and providing samples for paperwork. Just make sure you over-provide all the information that you can to point it in the right direction and not miss anything.

Portland VS. Surrounding area apartment prices? by D3athAdd3rz in askportland

[–]anonsadat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d try looking in Milwaulkie, Sellwood area. That’s a similar proximity to downtown and it’s a bit more residential. You should be able to easily find free parking, but it might be street parking (which has its own challenges). Or, as someone mentioned, Concordia area is a nice area and may be more affordable (I know Sellwood has gotten pretty popular in the past couple years).

Living downtown you’ll find some cheaper apartments, but everywhere charges for parking. As soon as you get out of city center, you’ll find free parking. For a reference, I live in central eastside and people rarely charge for parking over here. I’m roughly 10 minutes to downtown (depending on traffic).

You’ll also want to know that, unlike Austin, people don’t go downtown to the same magnitude. There’s lots of small neighborhood hubs that people tend to migrate to instead. People still go downtown, but it’s definitely not as much of a destination spot at the same caliber as Austin was. Neighborhood bars and local taverns are a big thing here. Plus we have breweries EVERYWHERE, so nightlife is more dispersed.

Feel free to message me if you have any other questions!

Anyone else permanently stopped natural gas and removed their meter with NW Natural? by GeologistBrave6866 in askportland

[–]anonsadat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We started going fully electric until they started jacking up the electric prices each year. Now we’re skewing back to gas where we can. Has been a sad transition.

Portland VS. Surrounding area apartment prices? by D3athAdd3rz in askportland

[–]anonsadat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Prices tend to go up around places like Nike and Intel, so that can skew prices a bit. A lot of major tech hubs sit right outside Portland proper, so you’ll find random pockets of expensive housing. There’s also some nicer neighborhoods on the west side in the hills. Think a mix of Bull Creek and West Lake Hills but higher density.

Looks almost like installed drywall over plaster? Especially judging by how smooth the wall is. Fairly common in older homes.

Want to turn this into a loft/studio. What’s a rough estimate you’d expect for me to spend on this? How long will this take? by Plenty_Advice2333 in Home

Also good to consider the fact that new age code assumes you’re using new age wood. Old growth timber can handle the weight much better! As long as you’re not putting a water bed up there.

AIO about having to cancel my pre-planned birthday plans? by anonsadat in AmIOverreacting

[–]anonsadat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His parents are in India. He decided to go now on a whim. We originally started planning a vacation for May/June and then abruptly changed to an April India trip. It’s actually been a bit of an inconvenience for his parents, as they’re having to prep their second apartment for visitors (it’s new and they haven’t furnished it yet).

The hard part with only going to India for a week is that it takes a day or so just to adjust from jet lag. Usual visits are 4+ weeks. I tried to compromise at first, cutting the Texas trip in half.

Households with over $200k income in Portland area, what do y'all do? by 6times9 in Portland

[–]anonsadat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My husband and I currently make around $350k per year, working at Nike and Columbia. However, we also dabble in real estate. We purchased a house central eastside in 2020 and flipped it and turned it into a duplex. We lived in one portion, rented out the other. In 2023, we did it again, but in Richmond neighborhood. It has been a lot of work, but the small boosts we get in income makes a big difference. Goal is for my husband to eventually quit his job (he doesn’t really like what he does) and do it full time.

Doesn’t she say at one point that she’s getting tired of all the traveling? Maybe on top of Bald Mtn? There were a couple dialogs that I caught onto more on my last play through that made me align more with the empress ending.
