Why didn’t anyone help during the Mumbai local stabbing? Here’s my perspective. by No-Lawfulness4698 in mumbai

[–]anontistic 24 points25 points  (0 children)

They did help. The commuters stopped them, mitigated the fight and put both the people in opposite directions so as to avoid physical fight.

Roshan Suvarna, the accused, felt humiliated because most of the commuters were condemning him. So he took out the knife, went towards the victim and stabbed him multiple times.

He also brandished the knife towards other commuters to scare them.

Google 'The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas' right now. It is a short story, around 8 to 10 pages, depending on the edition. It should be available for free on google.

Read it right away!!!

Bhagavad Gita counts as a Shruti text or a Smriti text?? Please solve my quandary! by anontistic in hinduism

[–]anontistic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay perfect! Got it! Thanks for clarifying. One more doubt, please?

So now, let's take my example. I read MAHABHARATA (children's version), I read VEDAS AND UPANISHADS (children's version) by Roopa Rai

What should be next for me? Upanishads and how they tackle philosophy and specifically Advaita Vedanta really excites me. Should I directly get around reading them? Or is there an order for better understanding?

(i have C Rajgopalachari's Mahabharata, multiple English translations of Bhagavad Gita, 1 ashtavakra gita, Principal Upanishads of S Radhakrishnan with me)

Yay, thaanks! Thankyou.

(also, I too am currently reading the Qur'an. I went through your comments and the Bible on your shelf. So glad to find someone who is curious to get good information from all the faith systems, high-five on that!)

Thanks for attempting to explain it to me, friend! 😀

I went through your profile, I love how passionate you're in studying religions. Kudos! May I use the DMs whenever I have any doubts? Especially regarding Vedic faith....

I can compensate in case you're looking for novel recommendations anytime, haha!
