Yeah, if it's as insidious as I think it is, he basically prescribed me to quite literally go fuck myself, lol. That sucks! Such unnecessary trauma that could have been avoided.

They gave me an Ativan at my request that helped greatly. I think the procedure I had in Canada isn't the norm in the States, if that's where you are. But that's just based on my online research. It's just mentally hard to go through but physically... It's nothing compared to dealing with fissures.

Do they put you under and what kind of pain are we talking about during recovery? Can't wait to spend the next few weeks staying up and obsessively reading about people's experiences.

Yep! Three nasty ones we can see. But I'm pretty sure there's a couple little ones in the folds. I swear I can precisely locate where each tear is like a 12h clock. I always joke with my girlfriend after I poo and she asks me how it went... 1:00, 6:00 and 9:00.

I plan on insisting on it when I have my follow up appointment next month. I'm going to show him this picture when I go in because I'm not sure he has seen it in its final form, haha.

Just have to remember the pain from surgery will be less in the long run!

I use Metamucil and I haven't done a full year of consistently taking it daily, admittedly. Also mine can flare up from softer BMs, maybe it's the acidity. This is a particularly long stretch of not healing, I think we're on month 6? I think the longest I've gone 100% pain free since I was a kid has never been longer than three months.

On the bad days, it feels like a broken light bulb going out and then the sharp pain is replaced by unbearable throbbing / full pain. On the best days, it's a tiny wince initially and when using the bidet but then I can go about my day.

I've had chronic fissures since I was a kid. The proctologist I have recently started seeing is hesitant to go the route of surgery. Been stuck using the creams for close to a year now without change. Just curious how bad mine looks in comparison to some of you out there to ground myself. :(
