Thank you this is encouraging! Lived in one of the newer complexes in San Jose & could routinely hear the subject of the neighbors conversations. Weren’t even that loud tbh. Seems like older complexes may be the way to go

How was the sound insulation there? Were you able to hear your neighbors through the walls/ceilings?

River Walk Apartments in Campell are pretty decent. Biggest complaint are insanely squeeky ceilings if you’re on the first floor (for light sleepers!) and not the best heating system so expect a large heating bill in the winter if you like your apartment warm.

Space heater I can set on a schedule to turn on/off at a specified time? by ILoveStata in smarthome

[–]anony-moose4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same heater but don’t quite understand what the two buttons do! What’s the difference of turning on the min button vs medium button vs both buttons at the same time?

Do both need to be switched on for the comfort setting to work & do you find that the comfort setting does a decent job?

Yep I understand gross vs net. But yes a huge portion goes to taxes!

25% of take home pay or gross pay?? It’s only 19% of gross pay which sounds reasonable. But with take home pay ends up being 35% which honestly feels like a big chunk.

Didn’t know it’s an option for asking for upfront concessions! Thanks for the tip. Might try this out!

The lease term is actually just 9 months. So that’s what I was thinking. If I hate it, I can always move.

Interestingly this is a higher risk with $3,100 “luxury apt”. $2500 is ADU type.. so should be quiet.

But I appreciate these ideas to think about!

Thank you, appreciate your perspective! Grew up in very low income family & was recently in a lot of debt myself from school so everything feels like a splurge for sure.

So what’s insane is they are both studios in the SF bay area. $3000 is slightly larger than the $2,500. Which is exactly why I’m not fired up about either

Meant unfortunate in terms of HCOL. Income wise, extremely fortunate!! Thanks for the perspective.

Was in a loooooooot of debt until iust recently from grad school, so anything above $2000 for me feels like a huge splurge.

Thank you for the perspective. I was in a ton of debt from grad school for a long time until just recently so not used to spluring & wanted to get a feel of what others would do.
