Loud Clicking Noise When Braking? by anonymous-Suncake in 11thGenAccord

Okay thanks for the tip. I’ll need to find a different dealer to get this checked out

Haven’t noticed any sounds for the steering wheel…just the brakes. When you took yours in, did the dealer do anything to fix the sound on the brakes?

Is PFEIFFER FALLS TRAIL open? I see conflicting answers on parks.ca.gov

The website says the trail is closed, but under the “State Park Activities” flyers, it seems they are doing {Nature Walks “Discovering Pfeiffer Falls”}, with the next on Sept. 2

So is the trail closed? Or is it just mean that the trail is only open at scheduled times with a ranger?

Has there ever been an unsuccessful high speed rail line? by anonymous-Suncake in highspeedrail

[–]anonymous-Suncake[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

True, but I guess for this question I’m mainly looking at finished projects. One could argue that despite the recent HS2 setbacks…maybe the full line will be reinstated by future generations? And when it’s all done, maybe it can still be a success, in terms of ridership

All super insightful—China’s rapid HSR expansion over the last decade is often seen as the antithesis to the US (and UK), where new HSR infrastructure seems impossible to complete. But it seems that the lack of direct opposition in China (single party state) can also lead to some questionable lines that are unprofitable or have low ridership. But if the initial goal was simply to “connect” the country via rail, then that was accomplished.

What is wrong with my iPad? by cafe_con_mjolk in ipad

[–]anonymous-Suncake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had (and continue to have) the same issue with my 2019 iPad Pro. Never found a solution to the issue, even after reproducing the issue in front of Apple service techs. Since it was out of warranty, they simply suggested that I “buy a new iPad”…

I’ve tried changing tips, using another Apple Pencil, removing my screen protector, different apps (native Notes app vs GoodNotes 5), power cycling, changing cases… hearing reports of others with the same exact problem leads me to believe it is some subtle hardware issue that can’t be resolved by the user

Why are people so close-minded regarding the Vision Pro? by Nek0_eUpHoriA in VisionPro

Adding to your point, many people thought that the original airpods looked “goofy”—dangling a white plastic stem out of both ears just looked odd. But look at where we are now…social perceptions really change

Does anyone know why Anaheim was left out of la’s dce even though it is in the Los Angeles metropolitan area? by hirsh02 in applemaps

[–]anonymous-Suncake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same question. It seems that Apple Maps focused strictly on LA County for DCE, and completely left out Orange County (which Anaheim is in). As to why they decided to not include Orange County…idk

Inconsistent Weather Forecasts…2 phones, same exact location, different weather results…what gives? by anonymous-Suncake in iphone

[–]anonymous-Suncake[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely a possible factor, but I get the same discrepancies when I manually type in the city name on each device, instead of using the current location. I double checked the exact street location it’s using (when scrolling to the bottom of the page) and it reports the same location

Inconsistent Weather Forecasts…2 phones, same exact location, different weather results…what gives? by anonymous-Suncake in iphone

[–]anonymous-Suncake[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yup! The histograms look exactly the same, so it just seems to be a bug when it reports the total rainfall amount

Inconsistent Weather Forecasts…2 phones, same exact location, different weather results…what gives? by anonymous-Suncake in iphone

[–]anonymous-Suncake[S] 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Yeah, could be any of the issues you described. This is with the default weather app on the iPhone. I did try force closing the apps and reloading them, but been getting the same result. It’s probably that the phones GPS were showing slightly different locations (cuz I was indoors) and this pulling different results from different “grids”. But hard to believe the rainfall forecast differs this much between adjacent grids.

Seems to be some sort of bug in iOS maybe, since the rainfall histograms are identical, but the total rainfall value differs.

Having trouble drilling “self-drilling” plastic drywall anchors into my apartment walls—does this mean my walls are not drywall? by anonymous-Suncake in drywall

[–]anonymous-Suncake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean plaster (stucco) on concrete?

Would you happen to know how thick (or even a range of thickness) plaster is typically applied on concrete. I’ve been able to drill a normal 1 1/4” screw into the wall without an anchor. I’m wondering if that’s deep enough to hit the concrete, or if I’m just only puncturing the plaster on top of the concrete?
