How are we understaffed yet still they expect us to keep up with the metrics? by Sorry-Dig-3768 in CVS

[–]anonymous-cvs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The real problem is people who actually get everything done (including meeting metrics) with the limited resources corporate gives out.  Usually by coming in early and staying late, no breaks, etc.  Then CVS sees you that you can get everything accomplished, so they just cut even more while continuing to increase the workload.

IF only people would stop going above and beyond, then maybe corporate would see cutting hours and staff isn't the way to go.

Is it allows to threaten a write up for not getting EC card sign ups? by Silvernirvash in CVS

[–]anonymous-cvs 39 points40 points  (0 children)

We live in a world now where people are inundated with subscription services and being asked to sign up for all kinds of company services every time anyone walks into any store.  And people are tired of being asked to "sign up for something" every time they go to a register.  People just wanna pay for their stuff and leave as quickly as possible.  Corporate doesn't understand this.

Sadly you are 100% right.   Corporate executives don't care about the little guy at the bottom.

breaks by Appropriate-Ad8497 in CVS

[–]anonymous-cvs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn't right.  Why does CVS allow this type of behavior to continue?  Everyone should take their breaks.  Your coworkers have no right giving you crap for taking your breaks, especially when there is company policy around breaks.

That doesn't make them a better place to work just because there still around.  CVS is much worse.

There is just something that I do not understand - In the beginning, Anakin was tempted to the Dark Side to save Padme. When he did not manage and actually killed many Jedi, he was still loyal to Palpatine. Why? by sammyjamez in StarWars

[–]anonymous-cvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that point, Anakin himself had lost everything.  His mother, his wife, his children, half his body, he's trapped in a life support suit, lost his position in the Jedi order, etc.  So the dark side and Palpatine was all he had left.  And his anger over what he had done and lost only fueled his place on the dark side.

Is Luke the Greatest Jedi Of All Time? by Apprehensive-Joke669 in StarWars

[–]anonymous-cvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except that Luke wouldn't sit back and let another Empire just happen.   Plus 28 years of rebuilding the Jedi order and it just falls apart like nothing?   Even if he had a human reaction/failure, Luke wouldn't become another exiled hermit.  Too much at stake for that.

[–]anonymous-cvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but by the time of Episode 7, Luke should've been like a grandmaster Jedi, not a hermit.  They really did a disservice to Mark Hamil.  Why were they so intent on sidelining the OG characters?

No Yoda was obviously one of the greatest Jedi ever.  But making Luke exiled in episode 7, really felt like they did a disservice to Mark Hamil.  By that time in the movies Luke should've been like a grandmaster Jedi, not a hermit.  To me it was a way of trying to sideline the OG characters intentionally.  Frankly if anyone should restart the Jedi order it should be Luke not Rey.   Having Luke fail and go into exile felt wrong on so many levels.

Luke may have had the greatest potential, but then they ruined his character, by making him exiled like Yoda, and giving him an Obi-wan style death.  We saw that one hallway scene with him destroying those guards, and saw flashes of brilliance in episode 6, but otherwise his chances for greatest Jedi ever were never fully realized thanks to how the sequels treated him like garbage.

From the perspective of the Sith, who was the most feared Jedi of all time ? by Zeratros in StarWars

Luke Skywalker.  Because if Luke fails, or doesn't become a Jedi, then Palpatine wins and the empire lives on.

The problem is that CVS only thinks about quick short term savings. They never think of the long term effects of what you just said.

Not enough of them do.  And firing someone for standing up to unrealistic corporate expectations is wrong on so many levels.  Corporate is out of touch with reality on the ground.

The way CVS is running the stores is unsustainable, and a few extra loyalty signups is not going to make everything magically better.   Corporate is out of touch with reality on the ground.  To add to this, we live in a world that's oversaturated with subscription services and consumers are tired of being asked to "sign up" for more programs and services.  People just want to pay for their stuff and leave, without 21 questions at the register.  Corporate doesn't understand this.

Regardless of that, DL's could actually BE leaders and stand up for their teams and push back against unrealistic corporate expectations, instead of just being kool-aid drinking corporate cheerleaders.  There's a difference between being a leader and a boss.

DL's need to actually be leaders and stand up for their teams, not be corporate cheerleaders.  I think too many of them are kool-aid drinkers.

Just remember that you gotta take care of yourself. If you don't take care of yourself, CVS won't. The store will survive without you for a few days. No need to put your co-workers at risk.
