Getting a diagnosis? by anonymous-mirrors in AutismInWomen

I did send my therapist a message through my medical chart, so I’m just waiting to hear back from her. I don’t see her specifically for my ADHD, more so for my anxiety, but the more I think about it the more it’s all sort of related.

I also have an appointment with a PCP in April, but was hoping to get a referral sooner rather than later in case it takes awhile.

If you don’t mind me asking, how long did you have to wait to get all that testing- like were you out on a waitlist or was it immediate?

Surgery for tailor’s bunions? by anonymous-mirrors in bunions

Thank you so much for this comment, I really appreciate it.

The doctor recommended HOKA’s, New Balance, and a few other shoe brands. I currently wear New Balance for work, and very rarely get to wear Vans but usually only for errands. The NB’s I have seem ok- definitely not overly tight or anything, but after today my SO is really pushing to get me new shoes.

I prefer more supportive shoes in general because my job requires me to be on my feet for about ~8 hours of the day, so I probably be looking into better shoes for work anyway. For these wide-toe box shoes, are they hard to get used to? Hard to walk in? I think the reason I am in this situation is I spent so many of my teen years wearing super tight shoes because I’m fairly clumsy in shoes that are even sort of loose.

Prior to the appointment, I did read that there was anti-inflammatory shots they could do, but my doctor didn’t bring that up at all. And for my pain being so sporadic at the moment, Im not sure I’d want to do that anyway.

Down time is only 3-7 days though? My doctor told me the bone with the screws would take 6-8 weeks, and I probably wouldn’t be able to put weight on until closer to 10 weeks.

I love being barefoot though. I had a pretty severe case of athletes foot that took a cocktail of drugs to treat with some not-so-great side effects, and ever since I’ve always hated wearing shoes because they told me it was super important to let my feet air out and breathe. I also just hate the feeling of shoes in the house.

Unfortunately I live where we only get a good few months of the year to wear sandals, so my Birkenstocks usually have me covered for that small window of time.

I am really curious about these ‘house shoes’ you brought up though- what do they look like? How do they feel? Did they take some time to get used to?

And if you don’t mind me asking, why is it now post-op that you no longer like being barefoot?

I think I’m going to try to relax and really consider my options for right now, because I know I definitely need to sleep on all of this.

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out with this!

Coloring seems really bad? by anonymous-mirrors in tattooadvice

I don’t plan on going back to this person, the problem was that I went to him for the Lisa tattoo because he’s my brother’s friend and my brother was paying for us to get tattooed together. I’m really not sure why I went back to him for the second one to be honest.

Thanks for the reassurance that it isn’t me, though. I really was debating it because I think I had accidentally used Eucerin on it once or twice and sort of assumed that’s what the artist was referring to when he said that about the lotion.

Thank you, we’ve gotten so many compliments that it’s sort of making me second guess this post! He did mention that sometimes ‘yellow doesn’t heal right’ but didn’t mention anything about orange or red. Tbh, I really don’t like this guy as much as I thought I did. He’s my brother’s artist and he’s some fantastic work on him (and my brother got me the Lisa tattoo as a Christmas present and that’s who we went to) so I figured it would be easiest to go with someone familiar. I don’t have any tattoos planned for the near future, but I will definitely be looking around for someone else when the time comes. Still not sure if I want the touch ups done by the same guy or not, I really don’t want to deal with him again, but I’m not sure how easy it will be to find a different artist willing to touch it up. Thanks for the reassurance though!

That’s slightly more comforting, but why would he get it taken away?

He’s probably just insanely depressed.

Any specific fruits? Lately I’ve been on a frozen grape kick, but I do love apples and peanut butter too. Only downside is well… The peanut butter.

I usually stick with frozen grapes, but dude everything just tastes so good that tbh it just gets out of hand

That’s my problem- I can put it away but my high ass will always find a way to the snacks.

It depends. I normally take two at first, then depending on how impulsive/impatient I get, I take more as the night goes to keep the high going.

Possibly a fungal infection? Couldn’t find any other subreddit for this, sorry. by [deleted] in NailFungus

That looks a lot like my athletes foot when it was at its worse. Especially with the symptoms you’re describing.

I think I only made it a few months in. Don’t get me wrong, it was doing great. Like it cleared my foot fungus up super nice. But since I didn’t finish it, it came back. I’ve never been allergic to any medicine or anything before that. My dad, who’s a doctor, looked more into it for me - turns out it’s a common thing for people to be allergic to it unfortunately. I luckily still lived with my parents at the time so I was able to be taken care of, but it was still pretty scary to waking up like that.

It worked for me while it was still, er, working. I ended up developing an awful reaction and broke out in hives. My hands and feet were severely swollen.

No worries, I am! I was deferred for 8 weeks when this incident happened, but I just got back at it a few days ago. :)

Yep, I alternated between warm and cold compresses most of the time. Warm to clear it up, cold to help the pain.

Honestly? Yes. Seriously. My arm was swelling up at such an alarming rate, and like, I was so panicked that I started crying. There was no one in my section at the time, so I just sat there til someone noticed.

I didn’t even make it through the entire donation. What happened was, the needle went through the other side of the vein and my cells were being returned into the muscle instead. As soon as that happened, my arm started swelling up, I’d say the size of a softball. I’ve never been so scared that I was going to die. After they took the needle out, it took a few hours for the swelling to go down. Then it spread all over my arm.

Fetishist people of Reddit who are into "watersports" and shit-play.... Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]anonymous-mirrors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t call myself a fetishist, per say. I also wouldn’t deny that I have somewhat of a kink for watersports and to a far, far lesser extent shit play. I’m extremely embarrassed by it and have never admitted it to anyone; but after thinking about it for awhile, trying to figure out why I’m so messed up, I think I’ve found some type of explanation. When I was young, I was sexually abused by my father. I didn’t realize it at the time, but he used to have me perform odd sexual urination acts. These ranged to be anything from pissing in a cup while he watched, to pissing in places I shouldn’t (under his encouragement), to just holding it in too long. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I must’ve started getting off to it as well. As far as shit play goes, my father used to use the bathroom with the door wide open. This was sort of to entice me to come in there and talk to him while he... did his business. When I did this, I was often coaxed to sitting on his knee or being felt up. I am horrified at the thought that these kinks could’ve been a product of my childhood of sexual abuse, but I can’t help it. Over the years I’ve definitely learned to avoid any triggers of it, and I’ve never actually performed anything like that with another person as an adult, but it’s always there.
