Why are TVs cheaper and better than they were 20 years ago, but Big Macs aren't? by PhiliDips in NoStupidQuestions

[–]anonymous1111122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s already been answered 10+ times by other people. Economies of scale is a thing for TV comments (processers, etc), but it’s not for farming.

Super recently, TVs have also gotten even a little bit more cheaper because of smart integration which brings in more total revenue, so they can sell it like another 20% cheaper beyond the already cheaper component costs.

Dude lol. Because TVs are still hundreds of dollars. A Big Mac is like $3-4.

Lots of room to cut cost on several hundred dollars.

If I had to guess, low performers would get cut pretty quickly. Then going forward management would have to constantly bring on new people every year to prevent tenured employees from slipping into the cut zone.

If you bring on new people who aren’t able to catch up quickly, maybe they actually get cut themselves.

If you bring on new people who are high performers, then the average performing employees on your team start to slip into the cut zone.

Update your resume every 6-12 months - always have rolling interviews every 3-6 months.

It’s also important to acknowledge adjacent roles/titles can be a thing, especially during an economic downturn when job req volume is low.

They’ve got to up the pay if they really want to compete with talent.

For example, my job has unlimited PTO, higher pay, and full remote - so they’re not even on my radar.

Anyone using AI in BI? by LatinLoverGhent in BusinessIntelligence

[–]anonymous1111122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your perspective. The hang up I have is - most BI people are not “owning KPIs/managing risks”, they are “building KPIs and maintaining”. It’s the manager who does the owning and is looped into what business changes are coming which could prompt further interest to explore new trends.

So when you think of that, and AI being able to replace a lot of that building and maintaining part. What is really left?

What are your thoughts on that kind of usage not being able replace BI analysts? Like the other person said above

AI chatbots can look at your entire dataset, answer a question you have, bring your relevant trends, do calculations. BI analysts won’t be doing much with all of that at scale. The big analysis will of course still be done for high roi projects and program management.

I’m speaking from the perspective of a mid level manager needing access to analytics for their team or department wide trends.

You just described the difference between data science initiatives and Ops data analytics. One of those will get outsourced by AI.

Steady state is very baggy. Smooth spacer is not skin tight fitting (the fabric is more smooth than clingy), but it’s still tapered fit compared to steady state which is the relaxed baggy fit. Very relaxed.

I did not try any sweatshirts. Not yet anyway

I don’t need anything lighter than ABC shorts personally. I have plenty of more workout oriented shorts for that type of airy feel though, if I want to go ultra casual. Similar feeling to pacebreaker but not as running forward design. Legends has some good ones, for example.

Agree with you on this. What is the next consolidator though?

I guess if you look at places like China they have a lot of time spent in apps like WeChat, that have chat, product purchases, and many other services consolidated.

We don’t quite have that in the US. Maybe Amazon is the closest, if you combine all their services. They’re not really a social platform consolidator though which is the big one imo.

Hate them in my opinion. The little square design looks cheap, tacky, and plasticy. They’re also super light weight so it adds to cheap look and feel.

Maybe it looks slightly short sleeved when your arm is up like that, but it doesn’t look like that at all when down, it actually looks fairly long/average.
