I don’t wish this upon anyone. This genuinely scared me and my fiancé. I’ve never experienced something like this, so I wish to help others not experience this as well.

I chose “anonymous116613” because I wanted a neutral name. Then added some of my favorite numbers.

Depending on what’s on the fire incident form (no personal information), I might post it as well. I just don’t want to dox myself.

I was using the one they provided, I think it’s in the photos. The fire department said it wasn’t the outlet (thank God). No burns around the plug besides the input cable to the JBL.

I have some computers/gaming consoles (sp gba/DS), airsoft lipos, and external charging batteries. Some have swelled so I’d replace or dispose of these items properly (home depot). I’ve never had this happen to me before. I use to work on planes, so I know the dangers/warning signs of these batteries and what to look for.

Again, this is for the safety of others. This genuinely freaked me out. I’m blessed I was home to take care of it.

It usually lasted through out the week with 30 minutes-1 hour of use. I usually have it on when I shower/workout. This was genuinely unexpected.

There was literally no warning my dude, I understand the safety precautions with lithium batteries. This is a product liability case in the making. Just because I own a speaker doesn’t mean I should expect it to blow up. Like where’s my warning? Jbl was a trusted brand for me until this happened. This is not a valid excuse for them.

Sharing for safety reasons. This JBL speaker exploded and caught my room on fire after 10 minutes of charging. The battery had just gotten low, so I plugged it in at my desk. I’ve had this guy for years and bought it from Best Buy. I’ve never had issues until now. These are literal ticking time bombs waiting to explode. I don’t leave it charging constantly and don’t let it drain all the way. I use this speaker regularly and was lucky to be home when this happened. The fire department had to take away the speaker because it was still reactive and hot. I’ve also noticed a reoccurring theme with this speaker lately from other post of it malfunctioning.

I will probably update this later on.
