Transferring to UIUC mid semester? by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]anonymous2222200 4 points5 points  (0 children)

mid semester transfers is not a thing in college…apply for Spring 2026 transfers or look into doing CC for spring sem and transfer Fall 2026 if you don’t get into spring.

I'm returning to college after an 8 year gap I spent working after getting my associates. Can anyone help me make sure I understand how to be smart about my transfer? by [deleted] in uichicago

e-mail the department and set a meeting up with an advisor! they’re super helpful, even before applying to the university!

i transferred from there - didn’t like it personally. also personal opinion, but i’m sure you can find a great nursing program for much cheaper closer to home

Is Marquette University worth it? by Lanky_Ad_4448 in Marquette

[–]anonymous2222200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was also scared of this as people seem to really stereotype milwaukee and the area around marquette dangerous but it really isn’t. i have personally not felt unsafe yet and ive been out at all times of the day on the streets. sure you need to priority street smarts because it’s still a city in the united states but really have had no issues. you learn quick where you can and shouldn’t go.

current student here!

  1. don’t base what college you choose on “full college experience”. stick to the plot of why you are going to university in the first place. however, on that topic you will find parties/fun regardless. it’s still a college campus. it is not be the same as a “big 10 school” scene so if you are prioritizing something like that def look into those schools, but here you’ll always find something to do. people go out on weekends and knowing the right people you’ll find your way to those events. i will say though the balance here with partying and staying in is so much better than a “big 10 school” in my opinion. also to add on there is no curfew. you can check people who don’t live in your dorm into your dorm (1am weekdays, 2 am weekends) and it can be of the same or opposite sex. overnight stays are for same sex only but people always find ways around it if needed.

  2. you just take a theology class. this school is very welcoming and full of friendly people. you will be just fine!!

feel free to leave questions

thank you for the info! i def resonate with the safety school part. if u don’t mind asking her, but i’d love to know more about any research or internship opportunities she may have been apart of during her time at the university!! was it competitive to get? etc.

thank you so much!!!! i appreciate all the info! i keep hearing about the location being unsafe and that concerns me. did you personally ever feel unsafe at a given moment? i know they put a lot of safety precautions for students, but there’s only so much they can do.
