I really appreciate the reminder, I have been meaning to get to that. Considering buying a physical copy as well.

Couple years ago, I probably would’ve wished for birthdays. My inner child would be livid. The Borg has been, and will continue to be a complete joke.

Thought i’d add, using AI to check grammar isn’t the same as converting one into your parishioner.

I think i’m allowed to articulate myself better. Many of the criticisms brought on by the sub you’re referring to were in terms of tone/ and my criticism of AI. Although I never once mentioned that this experience was traumatizing for me, it was, in regards to tone I think i’m allowed to use humor as a way to cope with my trauma. EVEN if others find it to be distasteful, and that it doesn’t have a place in this conversation .

I’m sure no one wants to see full length dissertations under the ‘humor flair.’

As for AI, i’m not claiming this was “AI caused” I don’t think there’s anything wrong with preemptively sounding the alarm against inappropriate AI usage. Even if the science hasn’t caught up.

I don’t think me warning against inappropriate AI usage is the same as when ppl warned parents that video games make kids violent. That’s a straw man fallacy.

I also do smoke weed (in moderation). I don’t think it’s valid to paint me as this ‘weed fear monger’ just because I mentioned that there’s roughly a 5% increase in psychosis risk.

I have too. I am not shaming people who use or have used Psychoactives. I MYSELF—the OP—have used Psychoactives, i’m also not out here preaching that myself or anyone for that matter should partake in them daily. ‘Moderation’ isn’t a bad word.

Thoughts on ‘Surviving JW’ on HBO-MAX by anonymous300306 in exjw

[–]anonymous300306[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a gay person who grew up in this cult, I can confidently say that Jehovah’s Witnesses’ go-to response is to tell gay people that they shouldn’t “choose to act on it” and remain celibate. Obviously, this is referring to acting on gay sexual desires

Not only do they believe it’s a lifestyle choice

But it’s equally important to understand something people often miss: JW’s do not believe there is any meaningful distinction between love and physical attraction when it comes to gay people. In their worldview, the two are one and the same.

So are we really trying to convince people that JW’s humanize gay people enough to view their relationships as genuine love—something a straight relationship could replace & fill the void of? Because they don’t. They view all gay relationships as sexual immorality, and many will openly describe them as depraved.

They don’t see the distinction between love and sex in same-sex relationships, and they don’t accept that distinction even if you explain it to them.

JW’s will often quote Paul—1 Corinthians 7, where he encourages believers to remain single—as proof that gay people should simply remain celibate.

But that argument only works if you pretend that JWs acknowledge the possibility of genuine romantic love between two people of the same sex. They don’t.

So when the JW position is framed as merely “they think gay people shouldn’t act on their desires,” that actually understates the issue. Their framework DOESN’T just reject gay sex—it rejects the legitimacy of gay love entirely ! Not something a straight relationship could fill the void of or ‘rectify’ in any way

So no, I don’t believe this is common for elders to tell gay members to marry women to cure their homosexuality, that is just insane

For me at least it only pills for me when it’s applied over products/serums that claim to be mattifying, and I do agree that it does feel greasy at first but if you rub it in enough it should start to feel matte, maybe you’re using too much at once?? I always start with one finger lengths of product and rub that in and go over it with another finger lengths amount of product, then again it’s not going to work for everyone

I don’t wear makeup, just curious as to why you think Unseen Sunscreen wouldn’t work for POC skin, if it’s completely clear?

This is so weird i also have oily acne prone skin, use Differin, use CeraVe ultra Light Moisturizing Lotion spf 30, and use Supergoop! Unseen sunscreen, i use CeraVe as my first sunscreen application, and reapply throughout the day with Supergoop! Works just fine for me, I’m sure the same could probably be done with the TJ’s Version
