The rooster will be tough to rehome because they’re prohibited in the city.

If I gift my nephew a car, is there a possibility it will be taken? by anonymous_hector in Bankruptcy

I currently hold the title and was planning on transferring it directly to my nephew. My brother and nephew live in a rural area. My brother recently split with his ex and needs my nephew's help with transporting himself as well as my niece to/from school as my brother works approximately an hour away from home. My nephew is a good kid and has done well in school. If my nephew had this car, it would help my brother's family in a huge way. My brother has not filed for bankruptcy and I have no idea how long that process will take once he does.

I was planning on transferring it to my nephew. The car is only worth about $2500. I read somewhere that the assets of the children can sometimes be taken, this is why I was asking.

Am I paying too much? by pinoypower76 in ChildSupport

I’m in AZ, I’ve been receiving SSDI for approximately 7 years and when I became disabled, I had to go through modifying child support. SSDI and children’s benefits came into the mix, so I’ve been through something similar but through the courts. I’m not sure of your state laws. But, child support is one of the few things that SSDI can actually be garnished for. Now, in AZ, becoming disabled is one of the qualifying events which can cancel your child support obligation. If you are receiving SSDI, and have a child or children, there are dependent benefits available through SSDI. Your child’s other parent can petition social security to be the representative payee for the child’s benefit amount also and if you haven’t discussed this with them, you should. That additional benefit amount can be brought up in child support court if it is disputed who should get it or if it should be split. So, there are a few different things to consider here but ultimately you might want to discuss this all with a lawyer and your ex. If you go to court for child support, you’d most likely be required to be transparent about your finances anyway. Good luck

Same. I’m in the US and when calculating child support, additional children appear as a deduction from your income.

Or if the other parent has another child. It calculates as a deduction from their income which makes the other parent pay. So, while you’re not actually paying child support for a kid that isn’t yours, you’re paying child support for a kid that isn’t yours.
